Floor boards up in the bathroom looking for a leak in the combi system. It's holding pressure so far after tightening the joints in the plastic hot water pipes. Hope it works or it's carpets up all over, looking for the leak
Hmm. We had that a year or two ago. Was a leak in the feed to a radiator. They capped that off and it was fine. Now my husband has declared he has had enough and wants his radiator back (it's in his office). So one of the weeks they will be coming to re-plumb his radiator and replace a couple of others while they are at it. A pity dear husband didn't decide on this in this summer .

I can guarantee a severe cold spell they day they arrive, and hubby heading off for France or Germany or anywhere where he doesn't have to sit and shiver in mess for a few days .

Apparently one of the weather forecasting companies here has said there is a 70% chance of a winter at least as bad as last year and probably worse.

Mind you they also predicted a BBQ summer last year .

It's nice to pop by this cheery thread now and then. I had a very successful morning writing an XLST file, if anyone cares.

Then I'm out tonight, starting to get some drinking practice in for Christmas. No leaks, boiler working fine, house nice and warm.

Sorry to break the mood!

We actually had blue sky and sunshine today, first time in ages. Took the camera to the woods with me but haven't looked at the results yet as son and grandkids were waiting for me here when I got home. They've just left.

I hope tomorrow is as bright, even if it isn't full on sun.

XSLT, rather you than me, I have just complete my first for a project I have ongoing, not in a rush to do it again.

Hmmm - bitterly cold first thing here , even a wee shower before leaving the Apple shop .

Since then just plain cold and dampish - it's now 4.35 and I'm going to put the heating on .

yep, the next 5 days frost *all* the time, between -1 and probably -8 or so. Bring on the snow!

My new slide projector is here - Zeiss Ikon Perkeo. No idea how or why it comes by the Zeiss name as the rights to that have been bought and sold all over the place (IIRC Sony are now using them for their primes?) but it seems decent enough. Needs a new drive belt, I've put a rubber band in for now but don't expect that to last long as it's a bit stretched. Will be calling a few suppliers soon to ask if they've got anything suitable.

Bl**dy cold here and I'm going back out in it to work.

Still, I've a nice new works jacket (CLICKY LINK) and it's cosy warm!

woaah, these LEDs are BRIGHT!

7xXP-G in R4 bin, Neutral, on an MCPCB that's 35mm in diameter. It puts out the same light as far as the camera's concerned at 350mA that my 50W halogen puts out at full power. 1/25@f8@ISO100. Around 900lm or so.

There's three times the light to come out of this, easily, possibly more, as they're rated to 1.5A and can take more IF the heatsinking's up to it. I'm going to put these in some MR-16 PAR cans and heatsink them with some holes round the heatsink and a 60-90mm fan pulling air out.

Let's see how the maths go....
