Another pointless thread

I watched that a few weeks ago and discovered the DTS setting in the sound setup menu, my surround sound system came into its own, having a Nazgul screaming through my head almost made me spill my drink. Good thing both neighbours were away at that weekend.

Graham that DTS Nazgul would be a great alarm clock ^^

hehe is it that bad ^^
Is LOTR already on blu-ray? They have an even better DTS sound I believe

Thank you for asking.
Still lonely but not so sick any more so yes I'm better.
Hopefully she gets her iPhone soon so we can talk again.

I don't have Blu-ray, so I don't tend to keep track of what's out.

I'm the only person in our office that doesn't have an iPhone, if I hear "I have an app' for that one more time I will scream. After saying that it's only jealousy on my part.

Never mind the iPhone, I don't have a mobile phone.

All that quite, no interruptions, nobody needing help with a server two hours after I have gone to sleep. Those were the days .

I just let the battery die and forget to charge it for several days, if it's important they would have spoken in the voicemail

Also Graham if the sale figures continue Android will over take the iPhone over 2 years so less talk about the iPhone maybe.... problem is though android also have apps...

About apps and android, have some one already tried the new google maps on it?
My father has one and the new navigation mode is pretty good I think, not yet as good as tom tom but it sure has potential.

I have done my share of call outs. I had one once when I decided to go fishing, I just arrived at the river and the bleeper called me to better things, ££££.

I tried that one, then spent several hours staring at the ceiling worrying about it. To be fair my current job is more consistent, hours wise, although nowhere near as interesting.

Re Android, If I walked into the office with one of those I would get laughed out of town. Having said that I believe you are correct Stefan regarding the projected sales and you can still hold a telephone conversation with your hand around the phone

That's a better job then. Most people that call me also have the home number so if they need me they can also call to that one.
Not in a lot of pressure to have my cell always on.

Android might not have the apps but the connectivity and google maps make it good though. Since google maps works over internet you can find almost everything.
We needed to find a special shop in a city we didn't know, we had the location off it within a minute and with photos from google streetview so we knew how the building looks. It also gave us the address, opening hours, email, website and telephone numbers as well.
Something like that is hard to beat I think.

funnily enough, I'm surrounded by iPhone users and my Samsung Galaxy has everyone playing with it... obviously your office thinks iphones are still shiney and new, rather than old hat

p.s.
Stefan - Google Navigation is ok, but it needs proper speech samples - I had to turn the sound off when I tried it because it synthesises everything. Also I'd be too afraid to use it much as it would hammer my data useage - and 3G is too unreliable at the best of time. Its like Google Apps replacing Office - nice idea but internet access isn't unlimited, free, and available whereever you are...
Still shooting in the dark (literally and metaphorically)...

Yep and the best bit is that non of them would touch a Mac

Indeed the voice is awful, for navigation we already didn't use the voice any more so it isn't a great lost.

The use off internet is indeed a problem for some, here in the Netherlands it's common to sell smartphone with fair use unlimited plans and you get two warnings before they do something about it and we haven't had one although we did use it regularly and also reception is overall good here.
I believe they wanted to make roaming costs abroad also a lot cheaper so who knows... we might even get EU phone plans maybe?
I do think it's the future though and Google is very innovative with it in the mobile market.

Navigation systems like Tomtom might get it hard when this app is out off Beta.

I wonder how long it would take to get "cloud" cameras.
Cameras that download your photos directly to a web based storage device, it's a safe backup and the ones with the right codes can access the photos almost directly after you made them, might be revolutionary for journalism.
