Wet patch with black mould in bedroom ceiling. Roof ridge tile no longer where it should be. Must have been done by January's storms. Roofer coming to fix tile in a couple of weeks. Hoping for a dry February. Are houses really malicious, or does it just seem like it sometimes?

I do feel for you Steve - Some of the noises we've heard on the roof/shed/carport during the last few storms have been quite scary. We've not spotted any notable damage but I'm a little worried that something will be uncovered in the spring

Steve, if you've not already found something, HG mould spray works very well, available from most builders merchants and available online

Thanks Chris, I'll have a look for it. The mould won't go until the leak is fixed so no hurry, unfortunately. Years ago I had some very good brush-on stuff but used it up getting rid of deeply embedded mould in the bathroom. It was probably full of chemicals that are now banned.
The worst thing about getting rid of the mould is that I'll have to move two wardrobes and all my electronic things that are connected by a jungle of cables (PC, hifi, electric piano etc.). And then I might be asked whether it's about time the room was decorated...

We've used Zinsser 123 sealing paint in the past with good results.
They do several versions for different uses.
As for houses, we love our house a d she seems to love us3back...
... apart from needing a central heating boiler all well.

My house used to love me. It's now complaining about being neglected for too long .
Sealing paint might well be needed. It depends on what the ceiling is like after I've attacked the mould. I discovered sealing paint after a year or so of our first house - Victorian, terraced, cheaply built, showing its age, cavities bridged by 100 years of decay. Paint it on, paper over it, hope the damp doesn't come through somewhere else before we move house...

Not having a pocket camera that works I recently picked up a, dare I say this? Nikon Coolpix S9050.
Being a Pentax user this novelty was interesting. Controls were easy to get used too, symbols being familiar helped, and image quality is good. Reaction time from 'on' to shot faster than other pocket cameras I've used, so all in not a bad camera.
And the best part, it was only £10 in a charity shop...
... result.

Being a newly signed-up member, I am uncertain about PU etiquette in regard to other brands, but is not only mentioning a N**** product, but in addition praising it, a washing out of ones mouth with soap and water offence? If so I can recommend a very good-tasting soap.
Sometimes, just occasionally, I nearly get it right.

Welcome Saltireblue to the pointless thread.
This thread was set up as a place for off topic thoughts, random comments, beer talk and beer talk.
Just have a look at the early posts to see what it's all about, and yes other brands are a dodgy subject on the rest of the forum..
..but here we can mention and say how we find them.
Enjoy

Many thanks, HG. Yes, I read through the thread and understand its purpose. My comment was very much tongue in cheek. Every forum needs a place where it is allowed to swear in church, so I shall take the opportunity to mention that I once owned a Canon.
Meanwhile, back on topic, have you seen the price of bananas these days? Terrible!

Did someone mention beer? There might be a bottle or two of Old Peculier waiting to be drunk tonight...
