Another pointless thread

Anyone noticed the abuse of the Ebay description "Opened - Never Used" :

It's fair enough on current items, or perhaps even items bought a few years ago and kept in a collection, but the number of items that are many years old and have clearly had a hard life is notable. Currently there is a Pentax MX with what looks like some sort of mould or stains on the shutter curtain, scratches on the focus screen, corrosion in the camera mount throat, a barely visible shutter speed dial and a creased, ripped and dirty instruction manual.

I think I might advertise myself on a dating site as mint, in perfect working order, athletic and handsome at least my wife won't know it's me

p.s. the bargain price of the MX is just £199.99

Oh, the ambiguity of the English Language and its creative use by Ebay sellers. 'Opened - Never Used' could mean either 'never used BY ME' or 'never used BY ANYONE'. Or even 'never used BY THE CAT NEXT DOOR'.

Looking forward to seeing the selfie for the dating site .

Chainsaws sharpened, fueled up and ready to go, then the weather does this!!

We're supposed to be trimming (cutting down?) several Leylandii trees at my son's house.

He lives in the direct blast from the Pennines above Halifax so there's no way I'm playing with power saws up ladders in a 60MPH wind with rain.

It'll have to wait a little longer.
Cheers, HG

After all the jabs and three and half years of being careful, it finally caught me.

Working in London last week and brought Covid home with me, Passed it onto Mrs LTL for good measure and we've been self-isolating ever since.

Well on the recovery path now. With the power of vaccination, it has been a mild dose, but my head feels like it's full of ear wax and my legs full of lead weight.

Back to London for work next week. Oh joy
Nigel.

Getting older and grumpier. Taking longer to decide which lens to use today.

Or develop a suspected mild case of long Covid - nothing severe, just enough for you to be not quite well enough to return to work for a few more weeks .

Mrs L. and I have just returned from having our flu and Covid jabs. Done by the little girl from across the road who goes to school with our daughter. Well, that's what she was before she and my daughter grew up, went to medical school, became GPs, found husbands, had kids of their own and now those kids are the age that they were when they lived across the road from each other. It's things like that which make me realise that in spite of how I feel, I'm not as young as I used to be. (Mrs L., of course, is as young as the day we first met.)

Covid, ha!

Had a dose last november, thought it was just a cold until I got out on the push bike.

Lead legs and no stamina made me take a test..

.. positive!

Good job we were staying in the middle of nowhere in Aberdeenshire, by the time we move on it had cleared up, but not until it had ruined a lovely dry, sunny week.

Self medication with whisky and beer helped.
Cheers, HG

OH the shame of it

Our village calendar has just been published - five of the month photographs were taken by my wife, (who is not particularly interested in photography), and not ONE of mine was used this year..........

From why I've read elsewhere, 3x B2 came to Europe in August to participate in NATO exercises - probably still here, and may be operating from Fairford?
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

..and I've not seen one since first exciting sighting the camera has been sat on the table with the 150-450 mounted ever since (instead of the 21mm)

Having done a big more digging on the militaryaviation news sites, it seems that those 3x B2's were deployed to Iceland in early Augiust for NATO exercises, finally went to Norway in late August, and then probably went home to the US as I can't find anything about them in September - so maybe one of them did a fly-by over Fairford on the way home (whenever that was?).

Think it's time to put that 150-450 back in the case until you need it for something else!
