Lubbyman is happy today. Having failed the bowel cancer screening test a couple of months ago, I've just been told that the results of the subsequent internal examination (ooo-er matron :shock are negative. So you can expect me to be around for a while yet . And in spite of all the claims that 'the NHS is broken', this part of it definitely isn't - I was very impressed with what I experienced.

That is great news Steve. It is clear to us all how happy you are today.

I would raise a glass of wine to toast your health but I'm drinking tea this evening. I hope this will do

Getting older and grumpier. Taking longer to decide which lens to use today.

That must be wonderful news for you. Best wishes from all of us.

You are right about the NHS. My missus has been in their hands since February and we have nothing but praise for the care she gets from the nursing and medical staff. They are all so kind, caring and do all that they can to help her. It is the administration in our large local hospital that is chaotic. The so-called line managers never leave their comfy offices, never visit the clinics that they are supposed to be managing. Time and again it is obvious that the NHS management don't have a clue about what really goes on in the actual clinics. I have had personal and annoying experience of management incompetence, compared with the skilled professionalism of the clinical staff.

Hey Steve, that makes two of us. How'd you enjoy the bowel prep? The NHS put on a faultless performance throughout. I have nothing but praise for them.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I had it last year, both ends, but reported all clear...now just a torn retina to deal with.

Like a good TV drama series - slow and quiet start, pace gradually builds up, culminates with a fast and dramatic finale . The final doses of jollop didn't taste anything like as bad as I'd been led to believe - I've had beer that tasted worse. As for their consequences, I've had worse stomach bugs - at least it was only one end of the digestive tract and I wasn't feeling grotty throughout. And for light amusement on the final day I listened to the song of the colorectal surgeon (look it up on Youtube).

Just one thing I forgot to do on the Big Day - ask the bloke with the probe whether he was using a Pentax lens....

Whilst I am generally happy with the NHS, quite a few times in the last 3 years I've had to "go private" in order to get treatment that was urgently needed because I was in severe pain (right knee joint replaced, arthritic bone spur in left shoulder joint causing excrutiating pain, and then longterm spinal damage pain - which is now considered too bad to treat at all) that was urgently needed because there was no sign of any imminent effective treatment (often said to be "not bad enough yet") from the NHS.
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

OTOH, I'm now "suffering" a problem for which the NHS can't be held responsible: SWMBO has determined that she wants to watch ALL of the Beeb's Coronation broadcasts - so I'll have to sit through at least some of that!

Don't get me wrong and classed as a "republican" who wants the RF gone ASAP - I'm not, having seen what some countries with elected presidents appear to be like, I think having a non-elected (and with no direct political affiliations or power) hereditary head of state is probably a better option in most cases! OTOH(2) I also really don't "get" all the adulation and fawning that seems to go with the way that "many people" appear to view the RF and some of its more prominent members!

I offered to make sandwiches and a flask of coffee and put a garden chair in front of the TV so Mrs Lubbyman could get the full experience of hanging around waiting for the events of the day to start while still in the comfort of her own home. She was not amused .

When I had my "oooh-er matron" exam, he was ! The equipment had PENTAX in bold red letters all over it, although the medical side of Pentax is still owned by Hoya I believe.

Had to watch the coronation, Mrs HG was watching it and I sort of got dragged in..

...I don't mind Charlie boy, it's the hangers on I can do without..

Right, porridge simmering, coffee made, it must be breakfast time.
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.
