Right, porridge simmering
Milk or water? Sugar or salt or neither? Jam, honey, sugar, golden syrup, banana or nothing (or all ) on top? Runny or thick enough to plaster a wall?

Ooo, porridge. This thread may become the Pentax User equivalent of a Twitter Storm, but here goes 🙂

For me, half milk and half water, soaked for 30 mins or so before heating. No salt and sometimes a splodge of honey.

We once stayed at a B&B in Scotland who insisted that porridge is made with salt. Mrs LTL was not pleased and left me to eat both our portions. She pointed out that the B&B owners were Canadian and not in a position to tell us how porridge is made. An otherwise very nice B&B which I’m not allowed to book again 😳

Barrie: aargh! So close and yet so far. We were in Hebers Ghyll woods on the other side of the dale.

Let me take a guess: did you take a picture of the bluebells? They are in great bloom now. The warmer and sometimes damp weather this week has encouraged all sorts of things to grow.

That shows an impressive amount of foresight and planning for breakfast. Particularly if the evening has been spent enjoying a bottle or three.

Has anyone else noticed a strange phenomenom? Several years ago I resolved not to acquire any more cameras or lenses once the cupboard they are kept in was full. A few years ago it became full. But acquisitions continued. And miraculously on every occasion it was possible to find room in the cupboard. The only explanation I can think of is that space expands in the presence of cameras and lenses . A cupboard twinned with the Tardis?

I know what you mean, and when you dispoes of no longer used/wanted cameras/lenses the extra space disappears as well..

...unless OTHER ITEMS are inserted quickly!

Not like that with books, though. Over the years, Mrs L's acquisitions have been taking over the house. And when I empty some shelves for decorating or some equally good reason then put the books back, there's never enough space to put them all back.

I agree. I believe that books (and miscellaneous paper documents) have secret sex lives of their own. Leave a couple of books on the floor in the evening, and by morning you might find three or four there.

It's bad enough that both the missus and I are compulsive buyers of books that are likely to appeal to our serious interests. A neighbour down the village high street has turned a recessed front doorway into a charity book exchange. People leave books there and the owners are raising quite a lot for a cancer charity. My missus must be a significant contributor, as she is always coming home with a John Grisholm or Ann Cleeves or some other thriller. Nothing photographic yet...

They accumulate in piles on the floor of sitting room, bedroom, kitchen and even the stairs. None in the bathroom (yet). I am enjoying her latest addition to our houseful of books: "Death du Jour" by Kathy Reichs.
