Not content with spreading the new variant amongst themselves they are hell-bent on spreading it throughout the country! Unbelievable. Go home. Please.Anyone left in London?

It reminds one of the 1665 plague. The wealthy got out of London asap. When lots of other Londoners started leaving for the countryside, many rural towns set up vigilante groups to prevent the Londoners from entering the town. Defoe described this in his Journal of the Plague Year.

Funny how, with the severe tier 4 in the south, some 'experts' and all the redtop rags are calling for an immediate ban on ALL travel...
They didn't give a **** when we were suffering in the north, now they're getting a taste of what we've had since March they're bleating lick sheep.
Lock down after Christmas but foe heaven's sake let us have just one day!!
On a lighter note, I had a short story read out on BBC Raio Leeds this morning, well chuffed.
hopefully it's here..

Excellent little story, HG . Why couldn't Radio Leeds find a reader with a Yorkshire accent???
Covid comment seems a bit unfair, though. We're all in this together. People have been suffering all over the country, including London and the SE. And plenty of people south of Watford Gap have been feeling that nobody cares about them.
What's different now is a change in the virus that makes it much more difficult to control than before. Slowing its spread through the country seems sensible. So sensible that Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the West Midlands Conurbation Local Resilience Forum and some other local authorities north of Watford Gap have said that anyone arriving from a Tier 4 area on or after 18 December should self-isolate for 10 days.
As for Christmas Day, a lot of people will be working over Christmas to keep hospitals, care homes, electicity, gas, water, broadband etc. etc. going. No chance of any of them taking advantage of even the little relaxation in rules that the rest of us are getting. Let's all spare a thought for them over the next few days.
Pity that the virus won't be taking a day off at Christmas...
The future will be better... eventually.

Surely, watching the news and MSM is pointless these days?

MSM? Had to do a [insert your favourite search engine] search to find what it is. Still wondering why anyone, in any circumstances, should want to watch a dietary supplement for treating arthritis.

Way too deep Steve. MSM? Had to do a [insert your favourite search engine] search to find what it is. Still wondering why anyone, in any circumstances, should want to watch a dietary supplement for treating arthritis.

I do suffer from AR though.

What a morning. Queued outside for half an hour at the butchers for my pre-ordered turkey breast only to be charged considerably more than I expected (shades of the Cratchitt family, "its the smallest one we could get") only for Mrs RobL to tell me when I got back it would have been half the price in Sainsburys, then on to the bakery where they couldn't find the Christmas cake due to Donna's chaotic book-keeping but eventually sorted it. Then an altercation with the neighbours for parking their cars on the grass verge in front of the house and churning it to mud, and all before breakfast. Very hard to keep this goodwill to all men going!

The queue outside our butchers was over two hours. We went away and will try again this evening as they are open to 6.30pm. Christmas cake is sorted, however, as I make my own. The biggest potential disaster was our Tesco delivery yesterday didn't have the whisky I ordered. Thankfully, I found an alternative in the local shop.

Just got back from doing exactly that. At least it didn't start raining until I was in the shop. The locally brewed beer strategically placed near the checkout was tempting. Then I remembered that the beer cupboard is already full, with more on top ... Queued outside for half an hour at the butchers for my pre-ordered turkey breast

11pm last night Tesco Chester le Street was quiet but no veg on the shelves same at Sainbury's. But we got all sorted through at Tesco Durham.
I'm driving over the next few days, so the beer is in the fridge for tonight. Good old John Smiths none of the warm flat and cloudy muck.
