My usual pick-your-own Christmas tree farm is not opening this year due to "unforeseen circumstances and the Covid-19 epidemic" . Time to look for a new source of trees. But it won't be the same without the annual trip to say hello to their pair of reindeer.

Our favourite place is delivering instead. Not quite the same as picking it yourself but better than nipping down the local wood with a saw.

Get one in a pot. The same tree goes outside our front door every year. Admittedly, we use a four-wheel, piano shifting trolley to move it due to its weight.

Tried it. Every year it had fewer needles . Best tree we ever had was firmly in the ground at the bottom of the garden. But at about the height of the house, even I drew a line at bringing it inside at Christmas. Eventually it had to be cut down before it fell down. Me, a friend and a chain saw did it and nearly took the greenhouse down at the same time .

I never have one, but I can point you at a feel-good Christmas tree story.

“He's had a buffet of all-you-can-eat mice, so he's ready to go," said Ms Kalish.

Some people call me 'strange'.
I prefer 'unconventional'.
But I'm willing to compromise and accept 'eccentric'.

Our Christmas tree lives in the loft for 350 days of the year.
We bought a good fake over a decade ago now, so I don't feel guilty about the plastic. It will see us out I suspect.
We rented a tree for a few years, but the guy retired and sold up.

I admit the idea of Christmas in June is appealing. I can't see us having anyone here or us going anywhere this December.
If youngest son gets the farm he is interested in buying maybe we can hold it there, either outide or in the barn if the weather is horrible. Big if on the farm though.

Hope the family member has a mild case, and the rest of you are unaffected by it.

TV last night showed "A fistful of dollars" and the rest of the spaghetti western trilogy coming on next two Fridays. Bliss! Please please let "Once upon a time in the West" come on as well. Can anything match the calibre of those actors and sound score? Gimmicky 007s are pale by comparison and don't get me started on comic book trash but I suppose they were the last gasp of westerns, for some reason no-one does them any more.

Captain Kirk asked of Bones, "when do you think this will all be over?"
Bones replied, "Don't ask me Jim - I'm a doctor, not a politician!"

Gwyn: If it IS over, can we all come to your Christmas party next June? We'll bring our cameras.

So far so good

No need for apologies RobL, this thread thrives on diversity and off topic

The more the merrier! BYOB - can't afford to keep Pentax Users in beer .

I don't think it will be over by then but at least we have a chance of a socially distanced outside knees up. If son #3 gets his farm we can have a socially distanced inside knees up.
