Because it's Apple?

Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Chher yourself up with the thought that at least it didn't delete all your documents like the latest Win10 update did for some.

Thanks Gwyn, on Apple all your files are floating around on a cloud somewhere but they magically reappeared a couple of hours later. You also keep getting prompts to update your security first although it has stopped pestering me about Apple Pay since someone hacked into their accounts. My work software eventually downloaded again after a long and fruitless dialogue but in the meantime I phoned the local Apple store with the idea I would take it in and let them fix it; turns out after half an hour the support guy I was talking to was in Greece! A whole bl****y day it has taken and now I have a headache, time to hit the bottle.

Sad to read of the pointless deaths of a couple taking selfies in Yosemite Park, and it reminded me of an incident last year which even now makes my hands go clammy. I was set up on a high spot taking shots as the sun went down and was so absorbed I completely forgot about a sheer drop a few feet behind me. Had I just stepped back a bit more I probably wouldnít be here now, and now I make sure I am well away from any hazards when setting up, even if it means not quite getting that shot.

I've been to Taft Point and there was no way I was getting anywhere near the edge!

It is a terrible waste of two young lives, sadly not the first to die taking selfies and almost certainly not the last.

I'm useless at selfies, so I'm not going to one of them .

Well tonight I am off to a bonfire (yes I know itís not the fifth!) in my new role as the official photographer of the Allotments Association. Such giddy heights! Who knows, this time next year I could be rich and famous fending off pleas from Vogue and National Geographic. Or maybe not.

and one week later:

just finished a full carton of tomato juice. It went well with the Stoly and Worcester sauce.

One thing I won't drink. Tomato juice. Yuk.

Grey, damp, windy but not cold here. The sort of day that never gets properly light.

Off to clear out the utility room ready for the next expensive purchase to take priority over a new(ish) camera. Arriving tomorrow at 7 am the men with a new central heating boiler for us. Couldn't afford to go with a heat pump so it's another gas one, even though gas will be cut off in the foreseeable future. So an expensive necessary but still somewhat pointless exercise.
