We bought one of those press things to make briquettes for the fire from old paper. It seems to work best if you line the mould with a single sheet then stuff it with either scrunched up paper or shredded paper. A superbly secure means of document disposal - you shred it and burn it!

Don't mention bins. Arun district council told their contractors one thing and their customers another. I could show their staff that the bin was exactly where they told me to put it, quoting the relevant paragraph in their letter. 50 phonecalls to them and two judgements against them by the Local Government Ombudsman and I still have to compromise to get my rubbish collected and they point blank refused to discuss why, contrary to their "Reduce, re-use recycle" ethos, their policies generated extra rubbish.

There's no recycling down here whatsover: you just chuck it all in one wheely bin which gets emptied mystriously on a regular basis, I have yet to see a rubbish truck.

I take it that's a 'wet' paper one, we have a 'dry' paper one that works OKish, but tends to generate a lot of paper ash....

Bin men have just emptied ours...

Don't take any notice of him Stefan. He's probably old and just grumpy because he would not know how to use it. Like me!!!!

Sadly Stefan - in this country especially - the poor state of education leaves at least 1 in 4 school leavers innumerate and semi-illiterate,and from my own experience ( limited ) without the ability to hold even a simple face to face conversation.
Spelling is atrocious and without the aid of the technology available even the simplest of calculations is impossible.

I despair and am sad for them - cannon fodder for the next conflict ?

Here's a paradox - if you were taught on a blackboard, you get lots less A levels but you can do harder sums and use the your own language properly.

I know what your saying but I'll bet they can be understood among their peers. The gap is between generation. As for the maths - ever used a slide rule Oggy
