Guy on Safari was entering all the data re game sightings into his journal - along with their GPS positions! Doesn't he realise they will have moved next time he goes on a drive? (He came from across the pond)
He might have been taking pics of the painted concrete replicas?

A safari with GPS locations sounds like a big zoo. Wildlife?

I cannot see it as even the remotest possibility. I had to review my thoughts on miracles when 558 took to the skies again to be honest. She only did so with everyone (BAe (the design authority), Marshalls (the engineering authority) and the CAA) all pulling in one direction. There was also a large pile of spares.

As I understand it, most of the flying, operating and maintenance documentation has been destroyed, as have most of the manufacturing tools and equipment. This means that anything that needed replacing would have to be built as a "one of" and probably certified and would be astronomically expensive.

The final nail in the coffin is Airbus. They hold all the authorities and have stated they will not support Concorde and more.

Of course, nothing is impossible, but the miracle required to get her airborne again would be a whole order of magnitude greater than that for '558.

Bottom line - if she ever flies again, I'll eat my hat*. Would love to see it though.

What a shame...would be lovely to see it flying again. It sounded a bit unlikely when I first heard about it. I can't imagine what it would cost to get one back to the point where it could get a certificate of airworthiness.

New commercial of Centraal Beheer Achmea, I'm sure all Dutch members know it because their commercials are always great, what do you think of it?

Little translation, the guy on the end says "There always goes more into it then you think."

I still really like this one.

No need for any translation.

I had a day off from babysitting builders (new bathroom is being installed so someone needs to be in to deal with any problems), so I went into town to buy more slide film and over to Hereford where my wallet was attacked by a rather nice N scale model of a German diesel hydraulic/gas turbine loco.

The slide film (Boots finest) led me to a number of conclusions:

There were four rolls on the shelf. One had a sell by date of February 2011, the rest were dated March 2011. My previous three rolls have had the Feb 2011 expiry date.

So in other words, Boots keep four rolls on the shelf. As I bought three earlier in the year, they ordered another three. So I'm the only one buying slide film in this town!

They also had APS film, good to know as I've been slightly tempted by a lot of Minolta Vectis APS SLRs and lenses. I sense APS may become more valuable in years to come as it never sold in huge numbers, so buying cheap mint gear now may be an investment.

While the Concorde's Olympus engines may be one thing, one entrepreneurial engine manufacturer is looking at replica Merlins...

I thought there was a ready supply of parts to rebuild Merlins? I guess the stock of rebuildable engines must be getting a bit low, as pretty much every real Spitfire seems to be returning to flight!

Not to mention Hurricanes, Lancasters and some Mustangs.

Had Hitler invented a Merlin seeking missile, we'd have been stuffed.
