What you need is a partner following you, at a safe distance, to capture any events that may be newsworthy

Shame on you G..

...no GoPro!

They make interesting viewing for insurance claims...

This is not right, it's Beerday night and somethings missing.

Of course I can rectify that and open a bottle...

Middle son is off to Sochi on Tuesday. He will be away for his birthday, so his missus has organised a surprise party for him tomorrow night.
They are going bowling with mates then back to theirs to continue the revelry. We'll join them there.

Only problem is he hates surprises nearly as much as he hates bowling .

I suppose I will have to join you lot and open a beer

Oops - too late I've had two with my curry already

Gwyn, will he hate them both so much if he wins (bowling and surprises) :
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Yes. He'll get over hating the surprise, but the bowling will always be a problem. Even if he wins, which will be unlikely tomorrow as one of his mates is the Province champion .

Now to get back to pointlessness.

I did this little quiz to find out where I should live in the UK.
I did it four times. The only constant was dog. Three times it said Newcastle, and once it said Edinburgh.

Newcastle came up because Newcastle Brown ale is known locally as "dog" link

My first experience with Newcastle Brown Ale would be in 1960. The order in the pub was either gizza broon, for a single drinker and was supplied with a pint glass if the customer was male or a schooner for females or gizza broon split which was a bottle of brown ale and two 1/2 pint glasses so two people could share. This potent drink was referred to as Journey into Space or Lunatics Soup and legend had it there was a special ward reserved for Newcastle Brown Ale drinkers in St Georges Mental hospital.
I'd never heard it referred to as "dog" until the 1990's and that was by a Geordie ordering a bottle in Aberdeen. Newcastle Brown Ale in the mid 60's was sold in brown coloured bottles in Aberdeen and to me tasted completely different to the true ale sold in clear glass bottles in Tyneside.
There was no known cure for the hangover resulting from over indulgence except to drink another bottle or two or enough to produce a state of euphoria in the casualty.

I served my apprenticeship down Scotswood road in Newcastle and one morning witnessed the aftermath of a session "on the Brown".

After an evening drinking, a labourer, from one of the machine shops, had come into work in his slippers during the night. They were trying to get him into an ambulance to see to his lacerated feet.

He had a broom braced across the ambulance doors and would not get in unless he could take the broom with him.
