This thread becomes more of an online old folks home (sorry, senior citizens' luxury sheltered housing complex) by the day.
Keep taking the pills. Or whatever medicine you have to hand. A pint of XB should do in an emergency.

Strong drink is needed
At last picked up my new car today - spent 3 hours at the dealers while we tried to get a tax disk
Since they closed all the Local DVLA Offices this meant mine had to be done in Swansea [ cherished number transfer ]
Car was registered to me from 2 Jan - Registration Document sent out but no tax disk with it.
Finally gave up and it was declared lost in the post - BUT there are only 2 POs in Glasgow where you can get a Duplicate Tax Disk - Sauchiehall Street and St Vincent Place and I was in Maryhill and the old car could not move as the Insurance had been transferred and I had permission to drive it once to the Dealers and not again.
That was not a fun session

We went with a friend to pick up her new car yesterday. All the garage gave her was documentation to say the disc was on its way from DVLA. They gave the impression that was the way it was done now.

I thought they were killing off the tax disc finally? Wasn't that announced last year?
We haven't had them for at least 20 years. All the car databases are linked. You can't register a car unless you are in the system and it shows the car is already insured, and you have no tax arrears.

......how much did the researchers get paid for that nugget of research?
.....and how many are 'middle aged' and drank the beer to prove the theory?
