I had a spam melt (two slices of spam with onions and cheese in the middle, battered and deep fried) in a small cafe/ chippy on Station Road, Filey earlier this year - tasty
I have not seen one of those before or since

We spent quite a few years "tugging" a van round, we'd progressed from tents to trailer tents and then to the van, most of our van holidays were spent on temporary sites with just a fresh water tap and chemical loo disposal point, unfortunately the arthritis started causing problems and after weighing up the insurance and storage costs we sold it and blew the proceeds on two weeks in Cyprus Never looked back.
We now prefer to let someone else make our beds and cook our breakfast
The thinking is that now His Nibs is no longer working full time (officially he is retired but still works a day or two a week), we can just pack up and take off for a few days without planning anything. I too like my home comforts, but can see his point of view. Having a dog complicates things as far as spontaneous short trips involving hotels or self catering. WE canīt keep hocking him in the kennels.

The little cutey we're thinking of can live on our drive, or be stored at a friends boat yard for free. We'll probably go for a second-hand one.
I shall make sure I take a few tins of Spam with me if we do get one, just to remind me of the forum while Iīm away .

That's an RV, a massive camper. Good for him. I hope he enjoys it.
It's not that unusual in the US to do that.
I'd love to do the same but for several things, like insurance, tax, bank accounts, mail etc. In Europe I don't think it is as easy to organise. Not impossible but not as easy as in North America.
After the safari, a three month trip around the US (longer if we could wangle a visa)is on the list for the lottery win .

I once shared a house with a guy called Bottom. He was from Lancashire too.
He now works in a call centre selling insurance.

Clever folk who fly a lot
Taking my Kindle with me this time - it's a couple of years old so not a clever one. Does have WiFi on it.
Since I'm cabin baggage only I've got small case AND camera bag [ Aer Arann seems happy with that - travelled like that before ] BUT does my Kindle - switched off - go in my case or do I have to be able to chuck it and my Phone and iPad into the tray at security ? I'm not sure if there is room for it in the camera bag

Tablet and e-reader and phone in the tray at security is my experience, at Schiphol any way. They moaned because I forgot my e-reader.
Then of course they moaned about my camera bag being full of cables and batteries and lenses and stuff that confused their x-ray person, so they had to unpack it all and check it. Then left me to repack it all.
Try to keep an eye on the tray while you go through the bleepy thing.
Don't forget to turn the WiFi off on the Kindle in the plane.
Have a good trip. Enjoy some liquid bread while you are there.

Once I'm through security things like the Kindle and my little bag of toothpaste/deodorant will go in my case The Kindle is off now and WiFi is also off
Cables , chargers are already in my case Batteries for the K-30 - well one is in it and the other is in a case in the front pocket of the camera bag .
I do find that being in the wheel chair 'cos I can't walk the distances in Glasgow Airport is a big help - the Chair pushers are usually very helpful and watch your stuff like a hawk
Liquid bread - yup I get the feeling that some will indeed be consumed
