Another pointless thread

I know another board where the Owner and geek is just about tearing his hair out over the problem. Every time he finds a way to get rid of them by one means or another , they change tactic and he's back at square one. He now has a Mod sitting on the Board early in the morning with his delete button primed - and still they come rolling in - sometimes 50 a day.

This forum has over 13000 members, any one of these kitchen companies would be unable to cope with that many emais, their servers probably couldn't cope, plus they would either have to sift through every mail or simply purge their inbox, potentially losing genuine customers in the process
Or perhaps someone should set up a national database of spammers, internet users all over the world could refer to the list whenever they wanted something....and avoid giving business to anyone listed
As for the poor Mods on here I'm sure they're doing their best to combat the problem.

Isn't there a captcha before you can join? Or have the spammers found a way around that now? It really is getting grim, and discourages a visit.

They have a full time job dealing with them. Other forums don't suffer like this one does though. I have put in a complaint to them higher up. Hopefully they can do something to stop, or at least reduce it.

And who would pay for this ? Because of the cost it would have to be subscription in one form or another. Wasn't there an outfit called Spam Assassian or somesuch that was doing this?Or perhaps someone should set up a national database of spammers,...
Captcha doesn't work. It must be so easy to employ poor people to set up fake accounts by typing in the captcha words and I believe its been hacked anyway.

Easier dais than done when the entire screen is filled with spam posts. So easy to miss a genuine, interesting, post amongst them.Just ignore them ...jeff....
As I said it is the only forum I'm on which suffers like this. Maybe it is to do with their non-standard forum software?
I know they are bots, but other forums seem to be able to stop them.
If necessary make it that a first post can't be placed without mod approval. Go for more active moderation, maybe even more moderators to help out with this.
It is really putting me off visiting the forum, and I'm sure others feel the same. What must it look like to potential members????

On a more pointless note.
We are contemplating a caravan
Admittedly a tiny, cute little caravan, (one of these), but still a caravan.
Help!!!!!!!

Nice one Stan .
I think we've lived in the Netherlands too long. That is the only rational explanation for this desire to buy a sleurhut (a derogatory Dutch term for a caravan :wink.

is anyone else a bit annoyed at the sheer quantity of spam for Kitchen sales that has been posted recently?
May I suggest everyone on the forum follows the links and contacts these kitchen companies with waste of time enquries, it might make spammers think twice if they find themselves having to go through 300-400 useless emails
If something's not done soon I'll give up (Reluctantly) visiting this forum.
Why should we have to constantly sift through this junk to find what we're looking for??? .......John?
