I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I only drink Yorkshire beers,I like others as well.Quote:

Drink of choise has to be VB (Victoria Bitter). He said its all stubbies out there and Fosters isn't sold all over Oz and that Heineken is the drink of choice there

Jennings from Cumberland comes to mind, good range and the Snecklifter is a favourite.
Then there's all the real breweries in Kent, the Cider farms of Somerset and Brittany, the caves in France...
I almost forgot the Swedish stuff...

Well - it will be a glass of Merlot again tonight - with my blue cheese and walnut salad
Beer can wait for another night
Or again - perhaps I'll get some steak out of the freezer tomorrow and have some Kriek with it

Umm Tony - I'm on my own Not a good idea to have too much .
I might have another one later tonight as well - we'll see .
I'll either be drowning my sorrows after Gartmore has slated my competition entry , or celebrating 'cos he laughed at it . The entry was intended as a fun one

What about Jenever?
Did some one drank mead once here? I quite like that but it's very hard to get here

Good grief, I spend a day away looking after the grandkids and come back to all sorts of mayhem on the forum.
I am now exhausted - a 3 and half year old and a 14 month old have way more energy than I do.
Australians obviously have no taste for beer - Fosters, Heineken and Oranjeboom .
A glass of Merlot will go down very well now.
More later if I don't fall asleep first .

I seem to remember there is (was) a very old Bar near the Five Flies in Amsterdam, where they only served Jenever and other liqueurs. You could only stand (no seats) and when you fell over – they stopped serving you.

Gwyn - to be strictly fair to the Aussies (have to be nice to them cos we beat them at cricket again and they get very sulky about such things :wink, they don't drink beer, its a form of lager they drink. Proper beer is not served chilled.
Stefan - Jeneva gin's not big in the UK - got a drop or 2 in some KLM porcelain houses they used to give to their Business Class customers back at the turn of the century. The better class of off license (bottle shop in Aussie speak) are getting few and far between these days, so chances of buying it (and any malt whiskey not associated with the Glenfid**** distillery) getting hard. Try the Islay malts - very distinctive and much better than any of the Speyside malts (IMHO).
