Another pointless thread

Left foot is still well sore, bought a new pair of walking boots with more support than a Sumo wrestlers truss. Did a five mile hike round Trimley nature reserve today just to try them out before Scotland and to convince Mrs Cedric that spending £135 on a pair of boots was worth it. Never put anything so comfy on the old plates so to me they are worth it. Better sort out my pain relief for the evening before Countryfile.
Enjoy life

Hope the foot is feeling better soon. What boots did you buy?

I hate buying new boots/walking shoes.

They cost a fortune and whilst they feel great in the shop as soon as I use the in anger I end up with massive blisters. Currently on a pair of New Balance walking shoes. Massive blister on my left heel from them, yet the cheapo pair of everyday shoes I bought the same day have not given me any problems.
Going to try Keens next, though I have to order those online.

Currently enjoying a Fat Bastard. Merlot that is. (2 for 1 offer at the supermarket)

I use New Balance running shoes - on my second pair now - I like them a lot
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Now I'm over the blister stage I like the walking shoes too, I can feel them correcting problems I had from my old shoes - my left knee for instance doesn't hurt as much now.

I shall still give Keens a try next time. If we do manage another trip to the US then I'll try and get them while I'm there.
The European HQ for Keen is in the Netherlands but hardly anywhere here sells their shoes, only the sandals.

Now where's that Fat Bastard got to...

Just a thought, how can a space be deliberately left blank but contain text saying it has been deliberately left blank ? My vote for the most eye-catching signature is "Nothing to see here, move along please" when obviously there is a text message to see which I assume we are meant to read.

It's a comment aimed at the request from PU not to clutter the forum with ridiculous signatures. Signatures are supposed to be name only, a signature, but we don't pursue it normally.

Except when it gets very ridiculous of course! Long signatures do distract from the post and apparently even that one has. You've remembered the signature to comment on, but not what was posted about.

The Netherlands has a king. The act of abdication has just been signed.
It will take some getting used to here, having a king.

I have been told this by a Dutch friend, but can't remember the answer. What is the distinction between Holland and The Netherlands?

There hasn't been a King in the Netherlands for 120 odd years. Lots of queens (4 of 'em-and the next one will be a queen too). So no more Koninginnedag (Queens day) but a Koningsdag (Kings day) from next year. Koning also doesn't scan for many of the popular songs sung on such occasions.

This video explains it all, sort of. It's not entirely accurate, or up to date, but good enough and easier than me trying to explain it

Fantastic! Loved that video, many thanks Gwyn!

We met a delightful couple from Friesland on holiday a few years ago and spent some time with them in North Wales. They were absolutely wowed by the mountains of Snowdonia, for obvious reasons.

Friesland has it's own charms. No mountains, but it is probably my favourite province. My oldest son lives in Friesland, and we may eventually move up there too.

One of these years I shall get back to Snowdonia too. Home of my mothers, if not my fathers.

Tried to watch the video, perhaps it was just my laptop but it seemed to run very fast. Also the commentator seemed to have that rare talent, the ability to talk and breathe in at the same time so didn't need to pause
