Lovely photo's Derek.
My wife's family lived in Newtown Mount Kennedy and we visited Glendalough many times. These photo's bring back memories of happier days.

That first one in particular is superb, a great viewpoint and the the side light is perfect! A very mysterious place. No doubt the macro rig could find plenty of subject matter there also Derek, but I'm sure it was refreshing to photograph something differently!

Cheers Guys, its a fabulous spot at the top of the Wicklow gap, plenty to see and do up there, there is a walk which takes 4.5 hours to travel around the 2 lakes and mountain. The site, and the tower was an old monastery, built around the 1100's.
Considering the state of my legs after spending 2 hours up there in shorts, dont know if id go back any time soon. I was bitten around 200 times on my legs, it looks like someone went at them with a red sharpie, and I dont usually have a reaction to anything.

1+3 work for me. Quiet isolation in the first, then the setting, and that sky makes for a very different dramatic scene in the third.

I loved number one!
You can feel the magnificent size of the tower and the wooded surroundings. I find the compositions is just superb. Even though in the other tower photos you capture the height, this one showed off the height in a genius way. This turned out to be a real masterpiece, if you are the kind of photographer who likes competitions.... this is a real winner! Beautifully done!

a lovely place and well shot. 1 could do with the bottom oof bits cropped out as they were a bit distracting for me and you are right about the colour pop ,it does seem to work quite well on that shot, the b&w cemetery is crying out to be IR Derek

I did try to crop that part out, but for me it just messed up the composition too much.
I might try a sq crop on the colour popped one, as the sky is kind of bothering me in that one.
I know what i like, If not always why.
