Thanks Barrie. Don't know how I missed this except haven't looked on the forums as much as usual. The decreasing vision in my "good eye" is not being caused by the cataract it's due to internal bleeds which have be caused by one of diabetes, warfarin or a blocked vein which has burst. More investigation forthcomming. Subsequent increase in double vision is countered by wearing a patch over injured eye.

I like the idea with the shaft of light, I would have not worried about overexposing the top light source and gone for more detail of the interior which clearly has a lot to offer.
Nonetheless, another good image to encourage comments....which is after all the whole point.

Another really good image, especially as Andy noted the extremes of light and dark. Maybe HDR would have helped - but would you then been at risk of loosing the shaft of light? The only bit that jars a little for me is the extreme highlight at the bottom right which I think that I would have tried to know back some more.

Lovely shard of light flowing through, i like the POV and the beautiful architecture, not my sort of thing really so i'm sorry for the boring comment

The idea is good but the lighting is extreme and difficult to control. As swarf says the burned highlight bottom right, jars. I wonder if the shaft of light would have been more prominent had the exposure for the entire image been turned down a little.

Last one in the series tonight. This is more like my 'standard fare'; I'm posting it because I like it! This is the Church at Letwell, a small hamlet on the South Yorkshire / Nottinghamshire border close to Oldcotes and Tickhill. To me, this is a typical English Country scene. Shot with the K-5IIs and Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4 HSM OS lens.

Compliments on you week's endeavours, David. The conditions look fairly challenging here, but this is ripe with colourful contrasts that are beautifully handled. Slate skies, vibrant flora... it is forever England (and beautifully composed).

Excellent last shot David! For me just slightly over- aggressive reduction of the upper cloud exposure (nd grad?) compared to the light on the church and field, but as always with you beautifully composed and observed. And the contrast between the yellow (colour) in the field and the grey sky is terrific

This is my favourite of the week. Lovely colours, great contrast between the sky and the flowers, all the important bits pin sharp, and as Simon points out - so 'England'.

The field of rape provides a lovely base for this wonderful scene and the church is perfectly positioned within the frame to create a well balanced view. I'm slightly uncomfortable with the sky, was it really that slate grey or have you turned down the saturation? Phil nominated this as his favourite of your pictures, for me the ship in the Mediterranean gets my vote.
Now I'm looking forward to Maria's contributions.

I like the picture. Compositionally it works for me; rape fields often add something different to a scene, and there is also enough detail in the sky to keep an interest in it with the amount in the scene - even if it is, as others say, basically a bit too dark for me.

The rape seed foreground adds so much to this lovely compo, i think the slightly darker aspect tells the story of winter, if it was lightened i think this would take some of the atmosphere away, thanks for this lovely series and i just hope i can show my five as well as you have

Any changes would possibly cause problems with the colour of the rape - it's such a strong yellow . I like it as it is
