Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

I use these on my spectacles all the time - never occurred to me to try them on lenses  I've always shy'ed away from wipes, and stuck to soft cloths, blower brushes and lens pens if required!

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

I would be very careful, the chemicals on some of these 'wipes' can permanently damage the delicate lens coatings ( I'm speaking from personal experience) :(

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

Fair point, but I can vouch for the W5 ones from Lidl that are fine on my photographic gear as well as my expensive transition coated plastic Nikon specs. I had Pentax spec lenses until i found that it was branding not a guarantee of Hoya manufacture. I leave the front of my camera lenses alone as m...

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

I've been using these on glasses for a couple of years and they are great. I've been nervous about them on lenses though. By the smell I think they are IPA based (not the beer, Iso Propyl Alcohol) but not found them good on LCD monitor or TV screens.

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

I wouldn't use any impregnated wipes on my lenses. The only thing I do use is a microfibre cloth and even that very rarely.

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

Most of mine have daylight filters on them - it's these that need cleaning now and then.

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

I use cheap filters on all of my lenses but struggled whilst using the MX-1 abroad. I had no wipes, brushes or blowers and the lens became covered in dust and grease. I also missed being able to fit a lens hood.

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

It does say on the box "not suitable for led screens"

Lens cleaning wipes in Lidl

I use warm tap water on kitchen towel for my Dell IPS LED Monitor. They don't respond well to anything much else. I've never had any issue with the plastic cover on my camera screen. If wipes are designed for delicate eye spectacles with their anti reflective coatings and transition coatings I t...

Do users think the aperture motor failure (amf) is a thing of the past? am tempted but amf puts me off :( My K30 suffered from the dreaded AMF but it turned out to be only a minor inconvenience - got it fixed under warranty and it's back to it's fabulous self. Good price on S1

It's like a bilious attack... cheap, though. Relatively. I did buy a metallic pink Ricoh CX which no one else wanted, but this is in a different league of awfulness. (Secretly, I'd love to see what that new sensor's like.)

Memory cards and screen shield at Wilko

I don't normally associate Wilkinsons (that's Wilko, not Wilkinson's Cameras!) with photography but they are advertising the following on their website: Integral Ultima Pro SDHC Class 10 up to 45mb/s: 8GB £7, 16GB £8, 32GB £18. The 16GB looks like the best deal. All are advertised on their we...

KS1 on offer too for the next ten hours

Honestly, it's a no brainer. Over say the K-50 you lose two control dials and weather sealing but you gain a 20MP sensor with no AA filter. I have one and I tend to use it over the K-30 now. It's small by not having a decent grip, but the guts are a normal Pentax camera. I can't think of...

Amazon: HD Pentax-DA 55-300MM F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE

I tried it on the K-S1 too (the new 55-300 PLM that is.) Full image at 300mm: Pentax K-S1, 300mm, f/6.3 (widest aperture), 1/320sec, ISO 6400 Actual pixels crop from the centre of the image: Lighting was very poor hence the highish ISO. And if you're wondering, the FF image ...

Amazon doing the K-1 at £1750, but taking off £350 extra at checkout - £1400 for the K-1

That's it Nigel the last time I looked at the edges of a 28mm Pentax M f/2.8 on film  I went out and bought a Canon and 3 lenses  ..... still kept the Pentax gear and then moved to a 6x6 Bronica S2A system and sold the Canon. Stitching/pano with APS-C should be better than FF except th...

Ffordes - Bargain grade 85mm f2

If the optics were at 100% clean/mint condition before fungus then a repair brings the lens back to close to mint. It's not hard to DIY it, the main issue is disassembling components that have been stuck together for years and years. From then it's a matter of keeping the various surfaces clean, ...
