gear freak overload.. (warning non-pentax crap)...
That would explain why I can't find an SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 for sensible money! I have an ESII that seems to work ok but that I only paid £10 for, so I'm waiting for a cheap lens to go on it. I saw a Super Takumar 55mm f2 last week for £15 with a fungus problem, if it had been an SMC f1.8 ...

Be very careful with cans of compressed air, as some non-photographic ones contain other things apart from air that can coat surfaces. You need the proper products to be safe. or you could just use a rocket blower...... Agree on the compressed air though, if you are going to buy it in a can, ...

Agree on the compressed air though, if you are going to buy it in a can, make sure it's the good stuff or you could end up with all sorts of oily gunk on your sensor. Maybe then they should rate canned air much the way they rate cognac, VS, VSO, VSOP, etc. This way we know which is the good air and ...

Buying a dSLR....
--- this is something I wrote for a couple of forums a while back. Any comments from here? Audience is UK-Focussed. ----- Buying a DSLR This is intended as a quick, non-branded guide to what you might want to look out for and why when you're looking for a DSLR. It will cover the basics...

Buying a dSLR....
Looks good - I'm not sure about the dust part though. I don't have much trouble with it and all I do is follow a few simple steps: Set camera to shake the sensor when switched on. Turn the camera off while changing lenses. When changing lenses have the new lens ready to fit as soon as you take ...

Pentax User on PDF
I wish there was more content for advanced/aspiring users who have got past the basics. More in depth equipment tests. The K-x one focussed more on its special effects filters than its image quality. This sums it up, I think. PU Mag seems aimed at beginners. Nothing wrong with beginners, but by t...

Confession from an Aging Photographer
I'm not entirely sure - I know that the limiting factor is usually the scanner itself. Mine is a fairly decent one (Ion Film2SD) and uses a 5mp scanner, the results are fine printed up to A4 size although I'm not sure how much larger you can go. Here's a sample shot taken with my MX and a 50mm f2 I ...

Professional wedding photographer......FAIL
If you say so Bob. The professional quality that I produce can not be done with a 6mp point and shoot camera unless the only size photo you are satisfied with is a 4x6 print. You can do what ever you want to with these small files and you can not get a quality print at 11x14. You sure dont want to w...

Professional wedding photographer......FAIL
Professional photography at 6mp. I think not. Steven Blimey, better not tell one of our local (and highly successful) portrait and wedding photographers that he shouldn't be making money with his inadequate sensor... Hope none of his hitherto delighted clients ever finds out. He could be sued fro...

IR Remote
I wished you could fire these from behind the camera as well as from in front. You are effectively camera to subject or camera-subject-you. If from behind you could get subject-camera-you, meaning you could fire shutter further away from subject which is useful for wildlife photography. Just being pi...

IR Remote
I've got one too - the need to fire from in front of the camera is a bit of a pain but I'm thinking that if it was a real problem it wouldn't be hard to rig a small mirror in front of the IR sensor. I know I've managed to trigger mine from behind the camera while shooting through a window, the glass...

Unedited photos
The question with this one is where do you draw the line, do you mean completely unedited and straight from the camera? if so what do we do about those who shoot RAW, what about all the specks on images from sensor dust, are we to allow tweaking of levels and saturation, or even sharpening etc.

Unedited photos
Removing sensor dust is the main thing I do in PP, Converting from RAW would be a problem if 'no' PP were allowed. Personally I see no problem if people want to alter their images, after all it's the individual to do as much or little as they think the image needs. I'm just lazy, preferring n...

How to use lens pen?
Hi, I am a noob in DSLR, so I need some help. I just bought a lens pen from this site. I observed that it leave (I tried it only on my hand, I was afraid to test it on the lens) that carbon marks other forum members talked about. As I am not the only one seing that, I have to presume this is normal....
