Darkroom printing
Slightly off topic but there isn't an obvious forum for this question... In an ideal world I would have my own darkroom and do my own printing. I don't live in the ideal world. I have a number of BW images shot on film which I would like a good old fashioned traditional print. I don't, howev...

Harrow Technical to close
Thanks to all for the input, I'll try Asahi Technical first FWIW (& IIRC) if you take it to them yourself, you might get a bit of a surprise when you "arrive at the door" because "Asahi Technical" is/(was?) actually at the back of a small shop specialising in large scale models (planes & the like), ...

Harrow Technical to close
Belated endorsement of Robin's skills. He CLA'd my MX a year or so ago and it came back like new. Long may he continue.

Eyecup FB
Algernon, I bought this new about thirty years ago with a 28-80mm kit lens and a metallic grey leather case. Basic it might be but it served its purpose workwise and it still looks and works as good as new; back then I used the program mode almost exlusively but it’s time to get more experimental. T...

New Ektachrome
Just got back from a trip to NYC to find my rolls of Ektachrome waiting for me. Time to load-up the LX and shoot some autumnal images before the last of the leaves fall off the trees.

New Ektachrome
I thought they'd stopped selling film. I remember getting a few very good deals on film from them a few years back. The two-pack seems decent value considering what it's selling for elsewhere.

Finally - a LR plug-in for digitising negatives with a DSLR
PS The cheap film scanners can be absolutely fine for web use or small prints. Mine, which cost about £50 a while back, uses a built in camera to make 5MP images o 110 and 35mm slides and negatives. It works great for web images.

Pentax ME shutter speed scale slipped in viewfinder
Hello, First post here after buying a used Pentax ME from a friend to get back into taking time over photography. Problem - looking through the viewfinder, the shutter speed scale floats around all over the viewfinder and does not align with the red LEDs down the left hand side. It looks like so...

Pentax ME shutter speed scale slipped in viewfinder
Well for most of them, it is not that hard though you do need good tools. For nearly all of that era of camera's it is a "simple matter of removing the top plate. Usually the rewind lever and wind lever need to be removed first. Once the top plate is off, there is usually a clamp or similar holding ...

New Year Pentax Nostalgia Trip
My first camera too. Late Spring 1982 I believe. I still have the (dead) body and the 50mm f/2 lens which, for the sake of nostalgia, I had serviced a few years back to remove the stickiness in the focusing ring caused by a spilt pint of beer in about 1984. For my last trip to New York in Octob...

MX developed sticky mirror
Hello all, My trusty MX has not been used for some time and has developed a sticky mirror. I bought it 2nd hand in 1986, already well-used with odd dents and brass showing but it has served me well. It has been around the world with me, including 2 years in Fiji, where it was kept in a plast...

RUST on P30
Well, a friend told me about 'Hammerite Rust Removal Gel' from Halfords so I splashed out £5 odd and painted it on then after 'infusing' wiped it off as much as possible and painted on some black Chinese Lacquer. It look better. I then found that lenses were always 'stopped down' instead of being ...
