MX woes
The MX was my first mechanical camera and I have a soft spot for it, but I generally prefer the KX proportions & handling. I sold my MX winders a while back, I just never used them. If I'm doing something I where I'm likely to end up bashing a camera, I'll often take a beaten up 'plastic' K1000 inst...

Mail-in film processing
I just had a couple of 35mm B+W films come back with scratches on the negatives, parallel to the perforations and on every frame. The films were used straight out of the boxes and the cameras (MZ-S) look immaculate inside. I have only very rarely seen this in the past and I am wondering if this is a...

Mail-in film processing
If the colour 35mm was shot at a similar time and processed at the same lab, the scratches would suggest it's a lab issue. If otherwise your happy with the quality and service from the existing lab, I'd be inclined to contact them, complaining in a reasonable manner and see what they come back to...

Film stuck inside Pentax SFXn
In total darkness open the camera and carefully wind the film back into the cassette. (Maybe in bed with the light turned off! Been there, done it!) Good luck The official answer would be to remove it inside a film changing bag but I guess you haven't got one of those. Whatever you do Just don'...

Testing an LX data back
I have a small pile of LX data backs. I shot a test roll prior to selling one of them, and I thought I'd share some of the images. It takes a surprisingly large chunk of the negative, and so it would really only be of use in very specific circumstances (which, these days, would have me picking-up ...

Vote for your Favourite Film Pentax on KosmoFoto
A thankless task, but I went: 1- ME Super 2 - Spotmatic 3 - Super A I stuck to only what I know, so that's all 35mm and manual focus. Ask me again tomorrow though and you'd get a different three all together probably!

Vote for your Favourite Film Pentax on KosmoFoto
I voted a while back and mine were: 1. LX 2. MX 3. ESII The ESII is a bit left field, but I do enjoy using my ES/ESII combo with a selection of SMC Takumar lenses. I've never used the MZ-S, and probably never will unless I win one in the Pentax Forums grand raffle, but I suspect that as gre...

Film counter not working
Hey, I recently purchased a Pentax ME Super film camera. When I started taking photos the film counter worked and counted up to about 6. But when I took the camera out the next day to take more photos I noticed it had gone back to below 0. Once I started taking photos it counted up again, only t...

Film counter not working
It won't affect anything except you wont know how many frames you have taken. It is just a clockwork counter that is reset by opening the back.

Film counter not working
Just make sure it is winding on correctly and not overlapping exposures. Can't think how it could reset the counter without opening the camera back and the film removed.

Old 'FOOD ' for my FILM Pentaxes ---
Looking forward to seeing the results Peter. Makes my 2010 Fuji colour film seem positively new, just waiting for the K1000 to come back from repair in order to use it. Your recent results have inspired me to getting the K1000 out again, keep up the good work. Paul

MX light seals?
Jon Goodman sells excellent pre-cut seal kits with detailed instructions. He can be contacted at [email protected] and charges very reasonable prices. He comes highly recommended by various people on the US fora and by me. K. Amazing, thank you. I’d come across his name before but all pos...

My 'collector's piece' what is it worth?
A quick query if I may, (not sure if this is the correct place/section) on my K1000, I wonder what it is worth to say a collector? I will say it's been kept in kids' gloves, ( see my intro ) not a mark anywhere, finish as new, even the battery screw cover is without marks, as used a fibre washer in...

My 'collector's piece' what is it worth?
Agree entirely about the K1000 John . I helped my brother in law pen a piece about it; https://www.filtrfilmcameras.co.uk/blogs/news/what-really-are-the-best-film-cameras-for-beginners Interesting read. I started with the ME Super and then picked up the k1000 later as a backup at a bargain price....

Getting my LX's going again after a long Lay Off
Both of my LX's suffer from the infamous 'Sticky Mirror Syndrome' which I can live with but also intermittent exposure problems -- then I read on www.pentaxforums.com ( Mostly YANKS ! ) that if you do the same as on the ME Super ie Rotate the exposure compensation and ASA dials back and forth many t...

Film processing on a budget.
I'd agree fingers are fine, you may need clips & hooks to hang the film for drying (I have photo ones but anything suitable should work). You may also need a cartridge opener and or leader extractor (I prefer to leave the leader out and load the film back through the slot in the cartridge for 35mm)....
