Is the new Pentax HD FA 50mm 1.4 WR significantly better than my old SMC Pentax-A 50mm 1.7?
I must thank all of you kind folks for helpful responses regarding this lens. It is indeed a very tempting lens, but perhaps a bit better than I deserve, considering the price. Mr. "K10D" made the point very well with his link to some outstandingly sharp images where the photographer outshines the...

And now I'm REALLY "Back"!
Thought I'd better say a public thank you to Rick H from IT who has now rapidly "fixed" the email address problem that I highlighted in the thread that I started as "Newbie" Zapper2 in the Troubleshooting section since I can't say it in that thread because he has now deleted that a/c and thus all t...

Hello from Plymouth
Hello, just signing in as a recent member to this site (great site by the way) I’ve been lurking awhile. I have resurrected my old hobby after approximately 40 years! I had a strange aversion to digital photography as it destroyed my passion for developing etc. Anyway……. Now a proud owner of a Pe...

Hello from Plymouth
A quick query if I may, (not sure if this is the correct place/section) on my K1000, I wonder what it is worth to say a collector? I will say it's been kept in kids' gloves, ( see my intro ) not a mark anywhere, finish as new, even the battery screw cover is without marks, as used a fibre washer i...

Pentax SFXn Beginner
Any colour or b+w 35mm film will do. You can buy it on Amazon or at a photographic retailers website. A microfibre soft cloth is your first option for the lens, front and rear. If the cloudiness is internal it could be lens fungus or balsam separation. If it is a serious problem with the latter ...

Pentax SFXn Beginner
I've just tried my camera and with the focus switch set to manual, the SFXn will fire the shutter without the need for any film in the camera (you can have the back open too whilst doing so - so it's easy to see if the shutter is working ok - but as stated above, don't touch the mirror, focusing sc...

Hi from Vancouver Island
Welcome, I also have fond memories of Vancouver Island, we stayed in Tofino and Victoria for a few days. Would love to go back. I also liked Vancouver as well (I've also been to Couverden in NL where the Vancouver family are said to originate from).

Hello - again
I am not so much a newbee but more of a returnee to the fold. Several years ago I had a K-30, since then I have dallied with the X-T1 & X-T2 but have now come back onboard with the KP. I am really enjoying getting to know this camera and now realise, among other things, just how much I missed an opt...

Hello - again
Good to hear you've come back with the KP, which I imagine is many steps upwards and onwards from the K30. If I was in the market now, technically, the KP would be a first contender for an upgrade.... I'm just a bit worried about the much smaller size, as I've used a K7 with grip for the last 8 ...

Hello - again
The KP is, as you say, many steps from the K-30. I like the small size and comparitively light weight, I appreciate not having a heavy load to lug about the hills when lockdown easing allows me to get back to my walking and camping trips. As for the grips I have found that the Medium suits me best b...

Hi from Tyneside
Hi I’m Barry from Newcastle upon Tyne. I’ve been a Pentax user since the days of the Spotmatic, today using the K70 and KP and eagerly awaiting the new flagship model. I’ve only had one wobble where I almost ditched Pentax after my Ks2 and then my K50 failed due to the aperture block failu...

Hi from Tyneside
Hi Barry, welcome to the site. I'm still using a K-50 which is just about 5 years old now...hoping I don't encounter any aperture block issues. One of my main interests is Aviation...must have taken thousands of such images over the years. Like you i'm itching to get back out there to continu...

Hi from Tyneside
The K-70 is better than the K-30/K-50 because it focused faster and has a larger buffer, but doesn't seem to work too well with 55-300 PLM because the combo focuses too fast and often loses focus lock rather too easily (although the combo is fine with most other types of shooting). Hope the KP is so...
