Just another old fogey...

Bloomin' heck lads, what an amazing response. Many, many thanks to you all. I kinda expected the usual "hi" from one of the senior members (as is the norm on other sites I've joined in the past), but this is, without doubt, the warmest welcome I've ever experienced. I feel like I'm a part of somethi...

Just another old fogey...

Snoops, you're clearly bouncing back from that very distressing accident which I appreciate really changed your life, and yes there will always be interesting places to photograph that you can get to. I wonder if there is any sort of grip attachment for the chair to take the place of a tripod, so you...

Just another old fogey...

Thanks Nigel, I've kinda put the cart before the horse as I've already bought a shoulder harness which will give me some stability (as long as I stop breathing,LOL), I did consider one of those "gorilla grip" tripod thingys but they wouldn't give me enough height in order to focus unless the camera ...

Newbie here!

I would probably give it a go but you may have a steep learning curve. The problem with the camera is that age will not be good to the seals so it may be fine but on the other hand may not be economically repairable. The lenses are easier to check. If the optics are clear and the iris is snap...

Hi all from Sunny York

Hello and welcome to the forum. If you'r ok with manual focus for your Macro have you thought about extension tubes to use with the 50mm. these are the things I mean . I gather the Tamron 90mm was well thought of as a macro lens.

Hi all from Sunny York

Hi bforbes Thanks for the info i've being looking into these since you sent me the link cheers ;) so to get this right the tubes are just a away to extend the lens to enable you to get closer to a subject rather than magnify your image like a +1 +2 or macro add on lens etc.... they seem ch...

Hi all from Sunny York

Welcome to the forum :) I picked up a manual focus version of the 90mm Tamrom for 30 quid - it's a cracking lens, here's an example taken with it.... I also have a set of extension tubes which when used with the Tamron is a fantastic combination....I now just need to improve my technique :)

Hi all from Sunny York

Hello and Welcome :D I agree with the suggestions above :D There are a number of manual focus macro lenses including the sigma 50mm f2.8 which can be found for reasonable prices second hand :D Regards Stu

Hi from New Mexico

Hi Maria, welcome to the forum. I love New Mexico! First visited when we drove rte 66 in 2002 and then went back again a few years later to explore it further. Even then we didn't see all we would have liked. I bought my first Pentax in Albuquerque on the rte 66 trip.:D

Hello from England

Hi joelineker, welcome. It would be good to know what lens you are interested in ... the site you linked to is clearly aimed at business users of video and film production equipment, and the lenses are mostly very specialised. There is the Samyang 85mm, very good, but it is manual focus and perhaps ...
