Coming over from the funky side...

I think you are right Mike. Btw, I'm struggling to set white balance when I'm in SEL focus mode. What am I missing?

Heya :)

Hi Claire and welcome, I returned to SLR cameras a couple of years back with the KX and now the KR and i'm still learning new things, especially from people on here. You've certainly jumped wih both feet into a technical area with HDR. In lansdcapes it can pull together skies and the land but ...

West Wales Newbie

Hi, Welcome to the best forum on the www. I know how you feel about Wales as we have live in beautiful North Wales for 8 years now, it was the beauty of our valley that got me back behind an SLR.

I-10 pentax

Possibly, you have the camera set to record "best performance" on the card thus the sd card has a lot of data to record, which might explain the "lag". Either adjust the recording settings (if you are set on 3-star performance, drop it to 2-star), or consider a Class 16 sd card. Pretec have a seri...

hello from Italy - Francesco

Just joined, really lovely group indeed. I am a Pentax 35mm and digital user, but using too Minolta MC/MD and Leica r cameras and lenses. My starting system back in '80ies was Pentax, the other brands coming for curiosity and collection... Still waiting for a full frame digital Pentax, by now I re...

Back to Pentax. In my heart I never really left.

Hi all. After happily snapshooting with various compacts for the past ten years, I decided it was time to bite the DSLR bullet when my point-and-shoot let me down badly at a big family event last year. So imagine my surprise and joy when I found out that I could use my long-neglected prime lenses...

Back to Pentax. In my heart I never really left.

Thanks Stuey Right now I'm torturing myself over whether I really really need a 35mm to give me something close to the 50mm that I was used to back in the film days. So far I've mostly been using my M28/2.8 on the K100D, but it seems a bit neither here nor there on digital. If only the classic li...

Back to Pentax. In my heart I never really left.

Hi David,we have quite similar stories, born again Pentaxians - until last year my previous Pentax was an MX so I know what you mean about old lenses and the advantage of a split prism in our digital cameras. A word of warning though; I laughed when I heard about LBA, but it sneaked up on me and bi...

Back to Pentax. In my heart I never really left.

Welcome MO, nice story indeed. You'll find that all DSLRs can be used i full manual mode (exposure and focusing) and that there is a wealth of exciting possibilities for legacy lenses on your K100D. Have fun !

Back to Pentax. In my heart I never really left.

Thanks for such a friendly welcome everyone. Ronniemac, I think it might already be too late for me to avoid the LBA. Yesterday I was overcome by an irresistible urge to go trawling round the local car boot sale. It's Oxfam at lunchtime today. I'm doomed. Dave

Newbie, be gentle with me

Hi everybody I'm wanting to get back into photography after 20 years absence (other than some point & shoot snaps for my work). I originally started in '82 with an OM10, then was given a s/h Pentax ME Super which somebody relieved me of after about 10 days so I settled on Olympus got a manual adapte...

Hi from a Derby Newbie

Hi everyone. Although I have been interested in Photography for many years I am still very much a beginner. I have recently purchased a Pentax K-r and have not looked back. For me taking photographs is not about trying to get the ultimate picture or taking shots to make money, it is about doing ...

1st timer with Pentax...

Hello all. Thought I'd say hello. Just got my 1st Pentax system after a flurry with Nikon (D50) and Canon (7D) and nothing at all! I was going to get the K-7 instead of the 7D but got blind-sided with a very good price on 7D; so got it. But was never really happy using it (it's a great piece o...

Cumbrian saying hello

Hello all, I've just moved into the DSLR arena after using a bridge camera for few years then with the latest addition I found the lag between lens and EVF too much for my slowing mind to cope with, so went and bought the K-r. Still getting used to it and deleting alot more than keeping at the mi...
