Yet another Newbie
Welcome to the forum
The K100D was my first Pentax DSLR - hope you have as much fun with it as I did!
I remember when I got it thinking - "5 million pixels - WOW" and now look at us 16m+ - but you know what? I have hundreds if not thousands of photos that I took on that camera that can still hold their own against images produced on the current range of bodies - pixel count aint everything!
Look forward to seeing some of your shots in the gallery
Carl

cheers for the welcome.
wow, not sure about that.
I am doing most everything in manual to learn how to do it.
Many errors, but fun.
I am also trying to get in there with my Raynox which is showing me all sorts of different challenges.
I feel like a kid, such fun
Time and rain are an issue though.
Not even considered cropping or PP yet. One thing at a time for me.
Does one upload photos to one's profile to get criticism and advice?
Ah, it appears that I can't do that for 30 days.
as for photo's use flickr or tinypic etc and link them across. its quite simple. just remember to upload at a smaller size 800 pixels per inch i think is standard (but i use 640 x 480 ppi
pixel count is really just how big the image is, like say a passport photo is 5mp and a 10x6 inch is a 16mp. which means better resolution for enlarging ( but again dependant on the lense)
when you get to the stage you want to start PP and editing then worry about pixels per inch but until then its not worth worrying about.
But in my Honest opinion as an artist you are doing the best thing, just doing it, enjoying it and questioning what you are doing and ultimately asking others opinions on what you have done. As long as you don't mind sugestions you will carry on loving it.
Am I right that the way to get criticism on stuff is upload it to the gallery and get people to be critical about it?
Cheers in advance.
Try My Photo,s perhaps but better still someone who uses that section more than I will be able to help you
Hope this helps
David

Looking through here, we aren't lacking in enthusiasm are we?
How great is this DSLR thing eh?
Take as many as you like AND focus on what you want.....
Faints with joy.
I am the same as many others: MEF years ago, life got in the way, now I have just realised how cheap a secondhand K100D was. Happy me.
Budget of about zero but thoroughly enjoying snapping away with some old Pentax fit lenses I had. (good old Pentax).
Again like many others, been tempted by some old lenses of course and drool at these modern ones.
To be honest though, I rather like playing around in manual and learning how to take a photo.
(Also just plumped for a cheap man's macro......Raynox 250 is quite fun)
I look forward to learning much much more from everyone everyone seems so friendly.
