New Pentax K100d Super purchase

Hi Everyone, ... This is my first dslr and was told by my college tutor to buy a Canon 20D or a Nikon d70 as a starter camera. Only the lenses seem to have image stabilisation built in which put me off joining those two camps. ... I took my friends advice and went for the Pentax, ... I hope...

Just joined today

I am hoping to get a decent amount for the k-7 so the upgrade will not cost too much I really would like better low light performance hence going for a k-5 now as the price has dropped nicely and there is a £90 cash back. Who knows what the spec of the K-3 will be or the price I am just glad to ...

New K5 owner says Hi!

Not just sporting. Just need a mid range zoom. I shot a recent rugby match with my 50mm prime and the 17-70mm which were fine due to the maximum apertures. My colleague had a 100mm-400mm lens with f/5.6 at the top end, and due to being a flood lit pitch being relatively dark her ISO had to go up and...

Finally joined the forum

Hi there I have been using K10D for over two years now and finally decided to join the forum. I'm enjoying my camera from the day one and after all that time there is still plenty to learn about it so I'm not thinking about getting new one (as Thom Hogan says upgrade the photographer not the camera...

Making your mind up

you may find, like I do, that the old manual focus lenses are better for shooting video with than the newer auto focus lenses... I have tow 50 1.4 lenses one M one af and trust me, they both get used lots. and the kr is a great all round camera.

Making your mind up

Cheers bud, i was more leaning towards the pentax, but i surpose it may have beed a bonus if old lense could work well. Its best if i can get a deal with two lense cobination. I was told that pentax hasent got the same sort of after sales service as canon and nikon, but all the years ive had a penta...

What Camera?

If you stand back and let your son do the maths, he might agree that Pentax is a better deal all round, especially if he's buying AND you're prepared to share lenses, etc. If he decides on another brand, well, life's all about learning from experience and mistakes isn't it? As to peer pressu...

Back again

Hi After an exhausting and demanding 12 months dealing with a raft of family issues and finding the time to finally pass the UK bike test (the older you get, the more demanding it is!), I hope I can to resume where I left off and I am looking at a replacement for my trusty K10. However, as I am re...

The K-5 is amazing value at the moment and will give you a big jump in various aspects of performance.

Back again

I second the K-5. ISO performance alone edges out the K7.

Congrats with the bike test. As above, the K5 would be the way to go. I still have and use my K10. I'm just not prepared to give up on CCD. I would say it will be more than a big jump though. Best regards
