froazen image and nothing works on my pentax k5!!
Whilst the old 'battery out, battery back in' trick seems to have worked for you, given the short time you've had your camera you might want to consider getting the supplier to swap it for another one. That said, I've read a few reports of K5's freezing, 'normally' associated with intense proces...

Newbie from Greater Manchester
Just been looking at your photo blog. I hope we'll see some Pentax photos on there soon? The photos of St Leonards in Hythe brought back memories of childhood holidays and being terrified by all those skulls staring at me . My husband is from Oldham too - born at Boundary Park, grew up ...

Hi all - complete newbie
Hi Eke and welcome. You have a K10D - a very cool camera and a pretty capable tool so you should be taking ace shots in no time. In terms of your questions - where to start??? I would strongly recommend you find a copy of the K10D instruction manual, as it is pretty good as I recall at effectively t...

new user from glasgow
Welcome! Back in January I was new to digital, and have since learned a heck of a lot from this site :D. The natives are extremely friendly and helpful, so just post away on any questions.

Welcome John, I'm a KR user and it's a superb camera. Easy to use to start wth pretty well anything possible as you learn more. I know nothing of lasers for photography. I only have A4 printing and use a five ink Canon Pixma iP4500. I think the latest version is the 4850.I use chipped ink r...

How many variants are there for "I'm new"?
Hello and Welcome to the Forum. If you don't mind manual focus, the Pentax-A 50mm f1:1.7 is something of a classic and not too expensive. The A version allows you to still select the aperture in the camera. If you have the 18-55 kit lens, is that not wide enough to get you started? As for sof...

Old Nikonian turns Pentaxian!
Hello. Thought I would just check in to say hi. After downsizing and flogging of my digital SLR stuff due to arrival of young kids, a few years down the line I missed it enough to dive back in. I've always been a Nikon guy until now (FM, FM2, D50, D70) but the modest available expenditure meant ...

Hello from Skye
Why is nothing ever simple??? It's Amazon that I ordered the camera from and since ordering it last week it's gone down in price by £48! I've not even opened the box yet because I'm away from home so I chanced my hand and emailed them to see if they'll give me a voucher for the difference or I'll ju...

Hello from Skye
At least you can do that if you want to and they are quite open about it. If you do send it back and it turned out they were then out of stock and couldn't fulfill your new order...things could be worse.

Hello from Skye
Well I am very tempted just to keep it because I want to play with it, but I'm basically throwing away 50 quid just so I can have a new toy that I've managed to live this far without. I hate to think of myself as a consumer who can't live without the fanciest gadgets so the anti-consumerism rebel in...

Hello from Skye
Now that I've slept on it I think I'll just keep it, can't be bothered with the hassle plus I'm itching to get my hands on it! Thanks folks :D Good. People who send things back at the drop of a hat put up prices for the rest of us. Having to recycle returns is very costly for suppliers, and it's o...

'Eyup from Yorkshire
Evenin all, After days of going back and fro between a Nikon D3100 and a K-r I finally bit the bullet and bought myself a shiny new K-r. So then I tought I'd come over here and try to learn how to use the bloody thing! Even as a self confessed geek some of the options and terminology are baffling...

Hello from India
Thanks all I started out with the Nikon D40 a few years back, and have no complaints on its performance. I am now feeling the pinch of adding lenses and Pentax seems really attractive :-). I always wanted the K10D / 20D but could not afford it new, hopefully will be able to get my hands on a good...

Hey there!
Well, you found us so that is a good starting point. Although you'll find most of the chat about digital photography a lot of that is equally applicable to film. It sounds like you have some good kit; go ahead and enjoy it, buy some film and come back here with any questions you have.
