A couple from last night's sunset.
Another vote for those railings! I think that what the sets of photos from your wanderings is showing is the value of getting to know an area really, really well and going back to the same places in different lights, different weather, different times of day, different seasons, different lenses.....

A strange capture
Going through the images I'd taken whilst on holiday last week I spotted something that looked a little odd on one of the sunset shots. I've uploaded the full image then a crop, you can see a bird within the sun disc - the position of the bird looks rather odd (to me) with its wings tucked in as tho...

A strange capture
It's a great puzzle- very difficult to understand/explain. In addition to all above oʻbsevations I also feel that the size of the bird appears disproportionate considering it's a long shot of sunset, the size of the sun,the hills and the trees over there. Can you please share exif ? This apart ...

Welcome to the World!
The first public appearance of this year's herring gull chick took place today. And here is the little darling in the safety of its nest two houses away, carefully guarded by a parent which is now never far away from its offspring. A few hours earlier it had taken a few tentative steps along the rid...

Across the River Tweed.
Some nice images here. I just find the first one a little disconcerting (visually) with the large out of focus area and being a little on the tilt.

Walk down to Heybrooke Bay, had it all to ourselves - again. :-)
A big improvement in the weather today so we went down to the rocks...... All handheld and rushed a bit TBH, but hopefully will help brighten your day! PP'd and tweaked a bit in Rawtherapee. Oh used a CP filter on the DFA 28-105mm. 1. The access path (excuse the close up wild flower not in focu...

Playing with the DFA 70-210mm f/4
Firstly these fellas were struggling a bit in the mud; K1 mk2 and cropped a bit. 1. 2. Very long decay - cropped again but I'm amazed there is still rope surviving after decades here; 3. and in black and white, I prefer the colour though; 4. This is in contrast to the long time decay ...

The church at Ahun
Oh dear. You have opened a monster can of worms here. I didn't notice that mark first time round. The only (non) explanation I can give is that it might represent a French term, "quatre de chiffre" which is completely untranslatable and goes back to perhaps the 12thC. You will find it here and there...

The church at Ahun
I think you have already discovered the 'why' bit - because studying symbolism is indeed fascinating - even when you meet a dead end, like this one seems to be. Yes, I did know it outright and the references are sitting in my book case, not 3 feet away from me. As to How? Try this scenario - Thin...

Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 plus an extension tube
Combining the beautifully soft out of focus areas with the gentle, natural colours of the Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 with a 12mm extension tube, these shots are taken at maximum aperture or 1/2 stop down. It's a real pleasure to use this classic 8 element design standard lens that Asahi Pentax released...

Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 plus an extension tube
Thank you for the kind comments - it's not a lens I use very often, but when I do I can see why it still has such a big appeal for many shooters. I'm not big into Macro, but I do enjoy close focus - (I would really love to see a extension tube that was fully compatible with the latest lenses suc...

Polly Joke.
Polly Joke is a place in Newquay, on a visit down there I was introduced to this place that I had never heard of. On Fathers Day it was heaving with people, however I managed to get some shots minus peeps. Apparently quite famous for the Poppy fields. Here they are, I'm not sure on my focus in them...

Polly Joke.
Thank you all for the comments, appreciated. I should go back one day and improve on them, they were in haste as usual but also many people getting in the way. If taken at the right time they would improve greatly. The location really is stunning, who needs to go abroad? Nearby/nextdoor there is a...

Woodland Walk
Thank you all for taking the time to comment. The k-7 I used was one I bought new when the model was first released. I then sold it to a work colleague who wanted a camera for a once in a lifetime trip to Australia, and now I have it back. I had almost forgotten what a great little camera it is

Fraddon Moto X
My first thought was ET ! An impressive - and exciting - set. Steve Thanks Steve, A pleasing find particularly fairly close to home and one I'll go back to, prob on a competition day when hopefully the riders are riding more aggressively with the potential for a few mishaps or 2,...

Little Thingies in the Garden
Thanks, folks. Handheld ? Handheld, manual focus, natural light and a willingness to bend the body into positions it doesn't want to be in at my age! I had not considered using the 1.4 TC with my Irix 150mm, maybe time to try! Definitely time to try. I'm not sure how IQ compares with no TC then cr...

From the last week or so....
GROVELLING APOLOGY TIME...... ignore the above rant! I have just been working on some images I shot last night.... I had this the other day to and talked to Rick about it, I have noticed that all my images I upload go darker than they should. I thought I had it sorted but no. I was trying to uplo...

[quote:3496ace15f="walkeja"]For me the colours are unnatural. The photos are over processed. You just don't get photography do you? Yes I do, film would not be developed in this way to why use a photo cheat to show something that your own eyes do not see it in the same matter, therefore you don't ge...
