Thistle Head

A great example of where a close up photo of a plant changes from just being a record shot into art - super use of the point of focus and great choice of processing 8)

Something different to snap

Hopefully not the new (to me) foot bridge on the East breakwaters at Whitby. Called back to Whitby yesterday to get smoked Salmon from Fortunes Kippers having went on the motorcycle on Tuesday to find that salmon would not be ready until Wednesday. No, I did not phone first before travelling a...

Segovia balloon festival 2021 with the K 28mm f/2.0 "Hollywood"

The Segovia balloon festival started in 2018 when it was relatively small. The following year it got bigger but it always runs from Friday to Sunday and I went on holiday on the Saturday so could only attend the Friday early morning flight, which was fantastic. I understand that the following day ...

Absolutely nailed the focus and good lighting too without highlights.

Lesser Stag Beetle

Thanks, All. Nothing at all, Steve. It's one of those , so laid back, if you put it in position it just stays there,,,,, Weird, but a pleasant change! Roger.

Rain stopped play so looked back

...and what a nice selection from the recent past - particularly like the warm look of the riders shot, that cotswold looking stone and the low sunlight 8)

Rain stopped play so looked back

A lovely day for photography. The cool tones of the first picture contrasting nicely with the warm tones of the next two. Helmsley is always a good place to factor in on a day out. Plenty of great places to have a sticky bun and a cup of tea. Or similar.

Rain stopped play so looked back

I loved my K1100KT, shaftie, blue, smooth as silk. Seriously, I loved it. Heavy as a tank though. The weather could be a pain and eventually it caused me to give up my biker life. Last bike a Kawasaki VN 900 Custom. Loved that bike, chromed it like you wouldn't believe. Great memories. I ...

Washi F

Really like the look of this film Kris - "Stop!" is superb, sharp, grainy, gritty and with that slight glow you mention, I've been purely digital for a few years now but results like this do tempt me back to the dark(room) side

K3iii

Certainly the more I use the K3iii the more I'm impressed with the focusing, its certainly much much better than we Pentaxians have had before. The shot below was K3iii + Pentax 24 - 70, I got caught out, i.e not ready and not really paying attention :-) the camera was switched off and wrist stra...

Excellent shot - and impressively quick reaction from you as well as the camera! Was that the only in-focus shot of the 3 you took, or were all in focus? Were they single shot mode or multi-shot with tracking? How much did the lens contribute to the speed and accuracy of focus? Questions, questio...

Around the Garden with the F 135mmm f2.8

From the garden yesterday afternoon with the very recently arrived (from LennyBloke) F 135mm f2.8. Well, you must try out a new toy as soon as you can, mustn't you? Mainly looking at what it can do at wider apertures. A conventional flower shot, then a couple of busy pictures with lots of out of foc...

Great Langdale

Simply beautiful scenery, nicely composed and captured - your images do make me yearn to be back in the Lake District 8)

Great Langdale

Thanks, both. John, I know just what you mean by "yearn to be back" - I usually go walking up there a couple of times a year with an old school pal, but this was the first time in almost two years. We didn't realise until we were there just how much it means to us to keep going back!

Great Langdale

Meant to comment on these earlier as they brought back memories from a very long time ago. Lovely set , showing off what to me is my favourite part of the Lake District and one of the most beautiful landscapes in the whole of the UK. Cheers for showing these. regards Karlo

RIP Brent Alpha

While out today in stormy weather, I passed the final location of the Shell Brent Alpha platform. I made two trips on this platform back in 82 arriving the first time on a Chinook helicopter. Odd and some what sad to see her again as she is being dismantled and scrapped. *istD and SMC DA 55-300...
