Light and Oats

Like the effect of the band of focus in no.2 but no.3 stands out as the shot with most impact to me 8)

Light and Oats

Not normally a big fan of pointillism, but I do like no.3. No.2 is interesting because I think you would normally expect the in focus area to to go across an image parallel to the sensor, not move deeper into the scene which is the effect here.

Light and Oats

Thanks folks. The weather has not cooperated over the last few days so there probably won't be any more of these this year. I was hoping to see what the DA*300mm could do with points of light. Oh well... :(. jvs - The sloping plane of focus is due to undulations in the field. The ground falls aw...

One from the garden tonight (K3iii)

The out of focus area is very interesting, in a good way. I have no idea about lenses but for fun I'll guess Lensbaby Sweet Spot

Mountain Bikes

Thanks John, a lot more nailed the focus this time than the last time I was here, 104 images shot, 102 sharp. The last one ( the head on shot ) even the K1 would prob have not nailed the focus

Mountain Bikes

What the AF like in low light ? Pretty good, the last shot with the cyclists head on was under heavy shaded trees, they appeared at a decent pace and it nailed the focus first time, 21 spots used. BBF I needed 800 iso just to get 1/50th sec with a bit of DOF @ F6.3, noise wise, good useable imag...

A few more local images

1. 10 image stitch for sky exposure and focus and 10 image stitch for foreground exposure and focus before then blending together. Pentax K1, DA* 60-250mm, Benro TMA38CL & GD3WH by , on Flickr 2. Rabbit stomping ground. When I was here looking down into this old quarry area there must hav...

Short Oval Racing With The K3 III & D-FA* 70-200

Great set and seems you've found the match made in heaven! Think I saw some old Ford 4 spoke alloys that you would have seen on the Capri back in the day on some of these vehicles?!

Oxeye daisy sunset

Taken the same night as the other thread! 2 images expsoure blended into 1 - one for foreground exposure and focus and the other for sky exposure and focus. Pentax K1 & Irix 15mm by , on Flickr

Oxeye daisy sunset

Thanks David. Have everything in manual, use live view and set exposure for the foreground. Zoom in and manual focus. Depending on the scene as a rule I usually focus 1/3 into the scene. 2 second timer and take the shot. Then adjust your exposure to suit the sky, live view zoom in again and focus...

Oxeye daisy sunset

Hi Gareth, great result, I suppose another option would be to get the exposures right in LR then just focus stack in PS, letting the software sort out that awkward area where the two photos merge in the middle. However if anything is moving like trees or the sea then your method is best. Lubbyman...

Our lawn...

Due to covid, the housing association hasn't had the lawn in front of our flats mown for a while. Hadn't noticed - I usually walk a different way - but it has quite a lot of wild flowers. So, out with the K10D and the 50-200mm zoom, for the more unusual flowers... by , on Flickr by , o...

MX-1 at Church

Really good shots. I'd have liked a little more info on how you straightened the uprights and a little more on ISO used. I bought my MX-1 back in 2013 and I disliked the screen..... great size and good at tilting but very difficult to use in bright sunlight. BUT..... there still aren't many pocket s...

Allium

Playing around with the Tamron SP90 and taking photos of Allium seed heads when I decided to focus on the centre rather than the seeds giving an abstract nature to the shot. This time focussing on the seed heads.

Allium

The first stands head and shoulders above the second for me. There's a sense of depth that the second one lacks. And the second looks rather cluttered in comparison. Was the same aperture used for both? I would have expected the centre of the second to be more out of focus if it was. Steve

Have to agree - that first shot really works so well, but it's not just to do with the point of focus - it's your composition with the central point truly being the dead centre and everything else appearing to "zoom out" from it. Clever shot and super image 8)

Cheers

Are you going to show us the "soft-focus" shots you took when the bottle was empty Peter :?:
