I've had to cut back on things lately due to health... but managed to get some serious reading in instead :) So, here's a list of recommended books: - an excellent book indeed! Lots of analysis over what works and (more importantly) why. Filled with excellent images and lots of diagrams analys...

... Shame you have to rip half the book (film cameras, developing etc) out and bin it. I would not want to do that. I might want to sell on the Langford book one day :D I enjoyed the film and developing parts. It brought back memories from many years ago when I had to photograph printed circ...

Peter: People in Focus: How to Photograph Anyone, Anywhere It has a lot of good common sense information. However, I find that Robin Gillander's to be just wonderful! It deals with a "considered" approach to portraiture and is packed with beautiful and thought provoking images - many B&W. Has in...

Potential trap for eBay sellers

Sadly when things do go wrong there is No Saving Throw for the seller... I agree there John, I worry when I sell stuff and always contact buyers to advise despatch etc. So far I've been lucky. As for dealers, I'm currently watching 3 MEF cameras, all three have dealer bids and the last 2 that...

Potential trap for eBay sellers

I thought I'd let you know the outcome. When the buyer sent back the book I sent him a full refund, so that closed matters off. We exchanged positive feedback, although there was no choice in that on my side of things! The second bidder got offered the book and was delighted in every respect. ...

Damn.

Well at least that's proper snow - I find ever more depressing how people are challenged by the slightest foul weather. My daughter's bus in Nottingham dumped all its passengers as they 'couldn't carry on' but oddly managed to get back to the depot - empty. Taxis weren't picking up. I took two ho...

Damn.

You don't have a truly "green" car until you've rescued one from a scrapyard and rebuilt it using the parts of around a dozen others (not to mention hundreds of hours of labour and gallons of blood / sweat / tears). I shouldn't have to pay any road tax - due to my recycling efforts the Government sh...

I always put the cap back and then you don't see it I think Mike is refering to the scratched paint on the side of the hotshoe mount, the bit that is'nt covered by the cover.
