A Very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

George wrote: But Sophia Loren - Wow! Absolutely incredible. G Was, still is, and always will be! The word magnificent also comes to mind. As I said to Don a while back, "When's it my turn?" P.S. A shame about the song! Was it NEVER in the film? And if not, how did it ever get recorde...

John Riley Photography

John, I like the clean uncluttered look but I have a few reservations: I, too, think you should separate personal from professional although I think I've made a similar mistake in my own one. 'John Riley Photography' isn't displaying correctly for me I think; it is Arial but the descenders are b...

Tamron 90mm SP f2.5 Macro Lens - Adaptall

Which is best for 1:1 macro work with the Adaptall 90mm SP f2.5 (52B), extension tube or 2x Teleconverter? As far as I know, the teleconverter doubles the focal length, but does nothing to your closest focus distance. The extension tube, however, reduces the focus distance, providing macro.

Focus on Imaging 2009

Just logged onto this years Focus on Imaging 2009 exhibition website. When I looked about a month ago, Pentax were on the list of exhibitors, now they are not. It's folly on Pentax's part that they do not exhibit at Europe’s largest annual photographic show. Last years show was attended by over 33,...

Focus on Imaging 2009

Maybe it is because they were in 2008. Which.... kind of outnumbers that pity 33000  you are referring to. But I agree on your remark about their marketing strategy. On the other hand....., I'll guess they choose carefully. Martin.

Focus on Imaging 2009

The 33,000 quote was taken off the Focus on Imaging website. They were being a bit crafty with their statement, as looking at Photokina I see that is held every two years not annually. Thanks for replying.

Software to detect and delete duplicate images

Liam Thank you so much for your input on this. I really didn't know picasa had these extra features up its sleeve. I did play with it once long time ago and didn't give much thought to it because at that time I was looking for a more robust editor, which subsequently I managed to get hold of GIMP...

workflow suggestions

I have Elements 6. I import my photos directly into the organiser. Then I back them up. Even the duds (you never know when they might come in handy). I then sort through and decide which ones I want to work on. By opening a RAW file in full edit you automatically come into Camera RAW where you ca...

A question about Forum ethics.

nice you're concerned...on the rare ocassion I've done that I only leave the image up for a week or two and take it back down...... usually find somethin in my files that I use for examples, though... it wouldn't bother me if somebody did that to one of my images, here in the forum, to offer help...

A question about Forum ethics.

I am relatively new to this forum but I can say with confidence that I have learnt far more than I ever thought I would by being here and asking questions. The great bunch of people around here are extraordinarily helpful and are ready to be patient even with the most simplest and commonest of quest...

A question about Forum ethics.

I certainly agree with Amin - this community is superb and I would have no ill feeling if someone edited a photo I had uploaded here to convey what might look better - I'm always keen to learn as I'm still a newcomer to DSLR photography. I've actually been reading a lot of Amin's posts (not delib...

A question about Forum ethics.

Basically I would like to know by way of example when one would use the separate modes. I have read the manual front to back and am quite well familiarised on the controls now and the terminology and its meanings and what it does specifically. I find myself using the P (Hyper-program) mode most of t...

You can only subscribe online. It isn't available in the shops. You can buy single back issues though. Sometimes it is really interesting and other times a bit thin, but I keep on subscribing, partly for the interesting editions, and partly like Malo to help keep this forum going, since the forum o...

Camera Bag for skiing - waterproof and easy access

Having just bought a K20d i'm looking forward to being able to take it out on the hills with me. This will be skiing and mountain biking. I won't take it all the time as i'd be scared of damaging it or it just being too big and get in the way, but i'll no doubt take it on certain days when the weath...
