By contrast when I had a problem with a Tamron lens, the importer Intro2020 (in Maidenhead) were able to fix it without shipping it off, were able to tell me what was happening when I called, and returned it with notes (in English) actually bothering to explain what they'd done.

When I took a body and lens into Pentax UK for service myself, it disappeared for two months (being shipped off to Europe). I only found out what was going on when on the nth time I called Pentax UK I spoke to a girl who had just started her first day and somehow was able to produce the information which no-one else previously could ... things got even better when I finally got them back; the only accompanying paperwork consisted of a single sheet of test shots showing that the camera now worked fine with a 50mm Macro (or rather Makro since the text was in German)... presumably they didn't check the lens I actually sent them with the camera...
... I know SRS wouldn't be happy with that, so if being a Pro Centre means they offer a better "service service" than I can get from Pentax then I will be very happy

You were exaggerating, as you have continued to do in this latest post.
In the second post I said that there is very little lens availability and the price is kept very high because of this. Again not an exaggeration. OK, I give you the two words "endlessly trawl"... anything else?
If Pentax deciding not to make such lenses............
They haven't decided any such thing. Stop making things up.
if Pentax HAD decided not to produce such lenses
You are certaily a comedy writer. On Ebay, you simply set up a search, then request an email to be sent to you when the item comes up. I have bought several things that way, most recently an as-new AF500FTZ flash for £36.00. There is no need to "trawl endlessly", though that does suggest seriousness.
I know it's frustrating at the moment, but I think you are going a little bit over the top.
You finally seem to have hit the nail on the head (though from a funny angle)... It's frustrating. And it's doubly frustrating when Pentax still don't feel the need to give anyone the slightest idea of what they might do or when (I see you missed the part where I pointed out that they updated the roadmap and removed all provisional dates so that nothing is "imminent" as you said). You seem to think that waiting for lenses to pop up and gambling on buying used from abroad (with all the potential hassle this brings) is ok, and anyone not happy with that situation is not a "serious buyer". I disagree. I don't think I'm going over the top (try certain other forums if you really want to see OTT), but if you feel the need to keep trying to criticise me personally instead of bothering to read and respond to my points then so be it... you and I seem to be 'incompatible' as far as forum discussion goes

The roadmap actually no longer shows anything being "imminent"... unless you have a secret roadmap the rest of us don't know about, on the updated roadmap (see here), those two lenses you mention are listed simply as "Future" lenses.
Once again, I fail to see how "at once" is the same as "within several years".
If Pentax deciding not to make such lenses means it is more rather than less likely that third-parties will cover the gaps... then I guess someone forgot to tell Tamron and Sigma that.
Now I have taken the trouble to look on eBay, Ffordes, LCE branches and virtually everywhere, for quite some time now, so I have to ask... Who exactly are "serious buyers"? You mean people who are prepared to endlessly trawl forums and auctions and are happy to pay waaaay over the odds because the price is pushed up by lack of availability? Obviously the rest of us are not serious and are only comedy buyers

I just wonder if people's expectations of Pentax have gone through the roof this last year or so, and if this is largely responsible for the new demand, and hence complaints when the demand isn't met.
Pentax obviously can't cater to everyone... but "people wanting any long glass at all" is not exactly a tiny niche. Even with their DA* zooms they decided that no-one could possibly want a fast lens that goes to the mind-blowing extreme of (gasp) 200mm, so they went for 135mm instead.
To my mind, long glass (not 1000mm, not 600mm, but in the far more reasonable area of 200 or 300mm and not a cheapy zoom) is not a highly specialised area which only CaNikon can cover. It's something that Pentax used to do very well, and it's somethign that every other SLR system does... Sony and Olympus too... but not Pentax any more.
Of course, the rumour mill has started again on another Pentax forum with "people in the know" insisting that big things are definitely coming early next year... let's pretend for a second that it's true and not yet more hype leading up to a big fat nothing... so hopefully when that happens, we'll see some long Pentax glass or at least the third-parties will come to our rescue again.
