Yeah, the lens hood is worthless. I find that the armour added a lot of weight to the camera as well, but it does make it look mean

You DOF will vary based on your distance from your object, F-stop, and zoom.

http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html is a good way to figure out what it is you want. I think there is a iPhone version of it, but could be wrong. Either way, it's not a bad thing to play with the numbers to get a rough idea.

Received, and the lens was full of scratches, fungus, and ... I'm kidding Lens is in near new condition and was packaged well enough that you could drop it out a window and it would have been fine.

Thanks Mike-P! Now if this effin' ash would just get out of the air my friends plane could land and I would have my camera back so I could go play.... bloody Iceland!
