Twas interesting to me - thanks for the detailed analysis. It's a lens which has a growing interest for me.

All I can say is WoW! What a lens. Anything I point this bad-boy at and pull the trigger on looks flawless. I'm really shocked here, the colour reproduction, and IQ are just gorgeous!

I.e. I just walked outside, snapped a quick shot of my neighbours wall, and it looks stunning! No PP other than resizing and it looks like something I would have agonized to get in PP with some of my 'other' lenses.

May be time to think about clearing house a bit and getting another DA* lens.... Damnit

Here, have more pics of flowers then... Maybe will sooth your soul!

But it does show a bit of fringing with the extreme colour changes - again that stupid DOF is awesome!

And the real reason for this lens. Nightshots, handheld @ 1/30th of a second. Now that is why you want a f1.2!

Don't get me wrong, they are the best review site I've found. I love numbers and they do a great job at presenting what seems to be unbiased results.

I'm just a little peeved that almost the exact same lens somehow gets a very different review ranking - yes it's only half a star, but 3.5/5 versus 4/5 is actually a big difference - esp considering there is only 1 star separating the kit lens (18-55) from a DA*. Furthermore, almost every review site seems to slag the Pentax glass, but if they see the Tokina on another platform they go ape shit over it. Maybe this is just a bit of a rant. So [/rant]

The isolation / DOF is just unreal! I'm finding that the bokeh can be a little loud / milky at times though depending on the background content. The moss picture shows a bit of a harsh bokeh, and shot of kittah exaggerates the milky effect due to her colour. Overall I'm quite happy with the new toy though.

How kind of you Mongoose! So now I've got my 30mm f1.4 and my 55mm f1.2... so what's the next stupidly fast prime I need? They should make a 15mm f1.0, that'd be sweet!
