So I just bought a 70-200mm from a fellow forumer and it was lovely for the last few weeks. I took it out for my first big outing which was taking shots of my wifes football match. I had my 1.4x TC on as I wanted that bit more range and I found it a tad bit slow focussing. When I moved around to get a better location to shoot from I took off the 1.4x TC and tried to use it without the TC and focus didn't work. I could 'assist' the focus and it would move but it wouldn't focus on its own. When I put the TC back on it worked but a tad bit slower.

I tried a 18-50mm and a 10-20mm and both were normal focusing speed. So I'm left wondering one of three things.

1) Is the lens fuct? Other lenses work so it could be this...
2) Is the camera fuct? When a TC is on it works ... maybe the motor is starting to lack the uumph?
3) Is there something else which might be a problem?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I may go to pcworld and see if the lens works on a k7/K-x

According to SRS it's 35 quid for the new hood and lens cap. Serves me right for putting the cap in my pocket and leaving the lens in the car to get beaten up.

With a new hood / cap the lens is in excellent+ condition. Basically this lens looks if those two things are bought. They are a bunch of DA* 50-135mm listed on eBay for upwards of 800GBP right now, and only 1 has sold for less that 550GBP in the last 6 months so to me the price seems quite fair.

I've not yet bought the hood/cap yet, but will tomorrow if there's no interest here and be putting it up on the bay

I meant on a public forum as it is quite funny. I wouldn't actually go through with mail fraud as that's a deportation level offence for me.

So how do we get free shipping from SRS? Do we have to call up and tell them, or is there an option on the website? I'm just going to go and order the DA* cap / hood so I can say it's in near perfect condition as those are the only two spots with any marks.

I think I may do that if I were you. Just ask to see who signed for it and see if it arrived and say no more. If they give you the value of the contents, lets split it

Oh yes, the IQ on this lens is about as good as it gets as well. I'm selling because I like to shoot sports such as rowing - so 135mm just doesn't cut it.

Have a few of the obligatory swan shots - note the ridiculous detail in the feathers in the crop! Also, a few event photos... I'll really miss the 50mm for these things as it lets you run about the crowd and take 50mm while still being able to snap a few hidden shots from a distance

The 70-200mm arrived today in perfect condition as described. Thanks mate!

Oddly enough, it was sent through RMSD signed for - however I came home from work to find it unsigned for leaning against my door.... RM is normally very good with packages for me!

Alright, finally got my 70-200mm Siggy today, man that took a while to find one! So back to trying to sell my DA* So a real big thanks to Pwynnej!

First, bump down to £535+shipping because of a new niggle I found. The lens cap also seems to have a few marks on it and the hood has a glue mark on the top. While the crack in the hood shown in the last picture is fixed, it doesn't look pretty (or even look like it's fixed in that pic). That price difference pays for a new hood and cap and then some. On a very close inspection the body and optics are pristine / as good as it gets.

Below is the pics taken with my iPhone (wife has camera and is away for a few days).

Gotta run and get my eyes checked now!

The candid option was the route I took today, and with great results. Man, I'm going to miss my DA* 50-135mm when I find a Siggy 70-200mm. For cruising through a croud the 50-70mm is quite useful. However, I did find myself pegged at 135mm for a good deal of the shots as well. I suppose thats why one carries a 1x-50mm F2.8 as well to get the closer shots.
