For trips where size and weight matter I use an ASUS Eee PC which weighs in at under 1kg. Being paranoid I then backup from that onto flash drives (which travel in a different bag) as well as keeping the original cards until I'm home.

An advantage of SSD over HDD which hasn't been mentioned is that SSD is OK at high altitudes where HDDs are not.

George is quite right. Apart from banality the use of Textese is an abomination and there may be a place for gentle guidance of offenders. Terms of Use contain a reference to use of upper case; perhaps this could be extended to cover Textese and capitals.

With reference to ericp's comment about lack of capitals not being so bad I have to say I disagree. Capitals starting sentences help readers identify the break and so make reading easier.

While on the subject we always use a broker and had car/breakdown and household cover through NU for many years as they would match comparable quotes.

This year he told us NU premiums were no longer competitive and suggested:

KGM Motor Insurance for car
BD Assistance for breakdown
Zurich Home Solutions Advantage for household (also via Broker Direct it seems)

All of these are only available via an intermediary.

Savings were significant and cover at least as comprehensive as NU.

Go to a broker and ask about BD Assistance from Broker Direct.

The service is run by, but a lot cheaper than, RAC.

I used a Hoya 28mm a few times a while back (not sure if it would be the same model).

It gave reasonable results at wider apertures but when stopped down produced flare in the middle of the picture.

If you were to just put a stamp on and put it in the letter box not sure if they check every letter or if they have an automated checking system but if not you may get away with it.
But what happens if you don't? The lab will probably refuse to pay postage due (+ fee) so presumably it will end up being returned to you eventually. Knowing today's Royal Mail you'll possibly end up paying for that too.

Out of interest when you measured it was the film in the container or loose in the envelope? Would the film alone (perhaps enclosed in a poly bag for protection) have been OK?

I think some of them result from cookies installed when browsing other sites. I got a really annoying moving ad here from Wickes for showers after I had looked at shower heads on their site. Clearing cookies got rid of it. I've also now blocked third-party cookies which I hope might do some good.

These three sites of aurora pictures may be of interest:

I saw them from one of the traditional Hurtigruten ships north of Tromsų. Standing on deck until 0200 with every layer (and I had plenty) on plus the cabin blanket but somehow not feeling the cold it was so captivating. No real curtains but amazing dancing lights all over the sky and at one point what I can only decribe as an immense, pulsating jellyfish forming directly overhead. Being beamed up to an alien craft crossed my mind as being the next stage - but it didn't happen!

I've always used the bottom left box not the one in the header bar, but after a bit of quick experimenting I think the bottom box lets you enter fractions whereas the header box only works in whole numbers.

Any ideas how I can view at 30% in Elements? I can do 25% or 33%.
For the record in addition to the ways you have found you can simply select the zoom level in the box and enter whatever figure you choose.
