Well bring on 2011..... I have managed to turn my job of IT training to incorporate Digital Imaging and Photography training. It is amazing on how much I am learning from my students. Especially the younger more adventurous. Plus finally joining the site rather than just using it as a resource.... onwards and upwards!
I am in the rare situation of gaining a family lost for 20 years so loads of happy snapshots!

Welcome Jimock, its a great hobby to get into and the early days are the ones which really are for building the foundation skills (and learning from mistakes) in using your equipment.
I agree with jon, you have a good selection with the kit lenses to start with and you will learn their pros and cons along with what you may need in the future.
You will no doubt suffer from the infectious LBA in the future..... just try and fight it off for a while.

Now that's different! Pentax meets Blair Witch. Can't really give C&C but I think I am going to give it a go. Thanks for the project.

I've had problems with the changed Flckr even when images are set to public etc -I swapped to Photobucket that works really well using the img code.

I absolutely love your framing, use of DoF and sharpness of the last three abstract images. Expertly captured!
