Memory cards use a solid state storage system so any kind of EMP will fry them but when are you going to be near a nuke blast? (No idea where Oshkosh is but I hope Putin isn't pointing more missiles there)

Well that is one good vote, and I was glad to see the SMC-FA Limited lenses available in back as I'd prefer them to blend with the body rather than shout out loudly, "LOOK! SILVERY!!!".
I assume prices are the same if I go into the shop to have a look/buy there...

Well, I can wait until September for these two. Was thinking that I'd rather not get the 18-55 as a stop gap but for £50 it isn't that bad... I'd still use the 50-200 as the 50-135 isn't quite enough. Really got to put it into perspective, £50 now and be able to take photos on a DSLR or nothing till later in the year, I think the choice is simple.
I am hoping the 16-50 is sharper that the 16-45 and has less vignette as it won't be worth the price for the SDM and weatherproofing alone. The 77mm glass front should deliver a lot of light though.
EDIT: never heard of SRS microsystems... Anyone have any experience?
Was leaning towards warehouse express as I've used them before but these prices are even lower!

Argh, the wait for the DA* lenses is driving me mad! I really hope Pentax have a good supply as I don't want to be stuck waiting for the 16-50. I can wait for the 50-135 as I will use it much less than the other.

The Minolta batteries are identical except in the mAh rating which is its 'longevity' when fully charged. It is 1550 rather than 1750 which will not make a big difference in battery life. I've got the battery that came with the camera and one Hahnel Pentax/Minolta battery. Only 1550mAh but seems to last just as long as the Pentax branded one. £20 rather than £40-50, I can't really justify over £25 and under £15 makes me think the quality isn't up to scratch.

I'd say that is rather strange. Secondly, batteries don't keep well uncharged 40-60% cool storage is recommended for rechargeable Li-on.George Lazarette wrote:

In fact I bought a couple last week because I thought I might crack and buy a K10D. I haven't cracked so far, but it's rather sad having batteries for a camera I don't own... yet.

If your graphics card supports it why not go for dual screen rather than wide screen.
I use a phillips 170C for editing and have all the toolbars, and browsers on the other screen (octigen M17) this gives me loads of space for editing without tools all over the image. EG you can have silkypix running with all the tools open without being cluttered.
Be careful though Windows will only allow one colour profile to be loaded to the graphics card at any one time. Hence you can only edit colours properly on one screen.
I colour profiled the Phillips and it's really good with wide Gammut range, the Octigen is pretty poor colour wise.
1920x1200 is absolutely amazing for photo work and there is no need for a second screen. The ratio means toolbars fit along the sides of a 3:2 image perfectly.
I wouldn't mind a 2560x1600 screen though
