The Firmware update did it. Mine was 1.11 so I was a little out of date. Must pay more attention! Thanks for your help.

I see that there has not been much comment on the K7 recently. Still using mine but it has just developed an annoying problem. If I use Live View it does not return the mirror, the screen goes blank and the camera will not function. I have to take the battery out, replace it and switch on before the mirror will drop into place. Has anyone had this problem and is it fixable.

I am very grateful to all those who have made comments on this subject. The LG IPS231 is now discontinued, though sold by Amazon (apparently). One of the issues with this subject is that models last so short a time on the production line. Are there any suggestions about how to check the video cards abilities and how to ensure the Monitor would pass the calibration test (which my current one does not!!!)

My monitor is showing its age. Its calibration is no better than adequate. Dark greys are black and light greys white. Looking around there is not much info on the monitors on sale and the sellers seem ignorant. They are really into selling basic monitors with Pcs and provided it looks good with video that's ok. I want to be able to edit my photos so they will look good wherever they are shown. Anyone bought one recently that they can recommend? My budget is up to £200

1) if you go back to the Pentax Japan website, navigate to the Downloads page and then change the view to the JAPANESE language version. THEN hit the PBLU0440 link and scroll down to the download button on the left of the page as on the English page it will offer you (in English!) the option to download the correct file ! Daft, I know, but it worked for me (as they say)!

Your absolutely right. Thanks

On my K7 there are a number of special effects, such as 'star light'. It would be useful to be able to apply these on the PDCU as this preserves the original. The alternative is to create a file after using PDCU, put the memory card back in the camera and then apply the filter which is rather too much trouble, I think!

I use a ball with my Gorilla pod. It is great. It also comes with two screw fittings!

All this is fascinating but I have the opposite problem! I edit my photos (using PDCU) on my desktop PC whose brightness is set almost to max (using the tool at the bottom of PU's home page). This sometimes requires photos are lightened but if I am not careful getting them right on the VDU makes them slightly overexposed when printed or viewed on other media. Any suggestions?

I think a piece on the PDCU would be very welcome. I use it for all RAW files ahead of any changes in Serif Photoplus. I have found out how to use many of the possibilities by trial and error. One thing I do miss. It would be great if we had some of the digital filters in PDCU. I have been looking out for an upgrade. Just gone on the Japan site (which has an English version - http://www.pentax.jp/english/. Found the upgrade but when I click to download I get PBLU0435.exe which is the old version! What is going on?

I think we can now put this to bed. I think we have demonstrated what a useful tool this Forum is. I hope, too, that Pentax will reflect on it as it was not a great sign of good management. I will try to email one more time.
