I am eight shots from finishing my latest roll of HP5, and I need to take another six photos for my "2010 in pictures" album project before the end of the month.

Just in case anyone's interested, one of my xmas presents was a Polaroid "Pogo" printer. This produces business card-sized photos with self adhesive backing. Shortly after I bought a Moleskine photo album - like their smaller notebooks but with a concertina-style page arrangement that opens out as one long strip. To fill it, I plan to take ten photos per month (two per page) printed with the Pogo and stuck in.

Looking at these images reminds me of a point along the Carlisle-Settle line whereupon you can get a seriously up close, low down and dynamic image of one of these antiquated behemoths coming right at you from the axles upwards!

How do they get the bubble out, I thought the units were sealed.[/quote]It takes time. You basically have to gain its trust through hours of patient nurturing whereupon it will eventually become familiar-and trusting- enough with you to come out upon gentle enticement.

Doesn't matter if the surface is level or not dude, the bubble should be in exactly the same spot -off centre or otherwise- when you rotate the camera because it ain't the surface upon which the camera rests that you're testing...it's the spirit level itself

I think you've captured one of those moments whereby what we're told isn't always what is.
The considered -as well as general opinion- is that the 'shite-hawk' ( the red kite being the originator of this expression) is a scavenger that lives upon scraps and carrion alone.
The fact is, however, that this trait can extent to every bird of prey in so much as why expend time and energy hunting for live food when you clock something that has just (or very recently) been killed!
If carrion isn't about or around within your turf at the time, however, then you'll look towards catching it on the wing....which is exactly what you've photographed.

...And any photo-ornithologists amongst you who might want to argue this point, then let's get down to a damned good argu-scussion in a new topic

Reading through a journal the other day I noticed the recommendation of a small hot-shoe bubble level as an aid to ensuring the camera is-of course-level. Just a quite thought on this, but it might be worth testing any such level for accuracy as not all levels are in fact'level'.
Take a camera to the shop with you and after fitting the level make a note of where the bubble itself rests. Now turn it (or the camera) through 180 degrees and note the position of the bubble again. If there's any variation in the position of the bubble, ask for another one...there shouldn't be any variation if it's a good'un.
