My New Years resolution was to stop making them. Been "clean" now for over six years.

Hide the stuff you don't use, out of sight, out of mind?

Attics and lofts were built for this purpose. Igloo and Coleman cool boxes were invented for keeping delicate things safe, whilst out of sight.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

Still have not finished clearing a loft - my Mother-in-law kept telling all her friends who had nowhere to put their rubbish " That's OK , put it in our Loft " She did this for years and after her death we started to clear some room in it for OUR stuff . After my husband died I decided to be ruthless - and we filled a 14 cu yd Skip - much of it from the loft and the loft is STILL not empty

Your drizzle might possibly help to soften my ice

I had to chip some away so I could open my gates to get the car out - the roads have been well treated here - but my back yard is solid ice !!

I've a K-x screaming to be used and I can't get it out in these conditions .

Since you are using iPhoto could I suggest you duplicate it and then play around using the duplicate with the various things on the Adjust Palette in the Edit mode .

This way your original is safe

After each alteration in Edit mode you can compare it with the original , and if you don't like it all you need to is go to Edit and then undo.

Just do it one alteration at a time .

Hmmmmm ........

Interesting topic this

So far I only have the K-x and its 18-55 lens and of course my flash .....

Photomonk was reminding me the other day about forward planning / packing for the camera - and I ended up thinking along these lines

Camera

Lens - 18-55 on the camera and [ once it's here ] the 50 -200 in my bag

Flash - my Metz 48

Batteries - set in Camera and spare set , set in Flash and spare set

Cards - in camera and also spare 4GB cards too

Notebook and pencil

PLASTIC BAG / s - well my camera is not weather resistant and my bag / bags do not have weather covers for them - so it's a big one to cover the bag and smaller ones to protect my gear .

Strikes me this is plenty to be carrying around - not only that my small bags [ yes 2 of them ] won't actually take more - the bigger new one will but then who wants to go walk-about-with a largish backpack ? The new Bag is really intended for travelling when on holiday and when I really do have to have my lappy with me as well .

My comments

I have found that North Americans speak faster than we do - this gave me problems when in the USA earlier this month .

I would say that your oral delivery needs to be a little slower .

Also your contact info needs to be on much longer - I doubt that many folk would have got it written down or memorised by the time the video was over.

Apple have contrast and brightness controls in their monitor setup software. Ifaik, they always have.
not for my MacBook Pro

If I go to Display in System Prefs I have two options - Display - Resolution - and a huge list of possibilities - a slider for brightness and my MBP will automatically adjust brightness as ambient conditions change . There is also the ability to detect displays

The other option is colour and a goodly number of display profiles - most of the common ones from my memory of the Calumet Printing Seminar . It is possible to calibrate it - but I think this is done manually rather than with a 'gadget ' and I don't want to fiddle with things I don't understand.

There may be differences with Desktop Machines - we need Photomonk here since he has both Desktop and MacBook.

BTW - what System are you running ?

I had along with technoidiot attended a photo printing seminar that covered a whole range of steps and issues at Calumet Photo in NYC at the beginning of this month. While they did not endorse or recommend any specific products in this seminar, the presenter did bring up one important fact that should be taken into consideration, especially if you are looking for a monitor. Apple monitors and on all their products for that fact including the MacBooks, etc. do not have a contrast control which would make it difficult in making monitor adjustments. It was suggested if you are looking for a monitor that can be adjusted, look to any other brand.

I bring this up, only because with the exception of my netbook that I use in the field, I process the majority of my work on Apple equipment.

The Photomonk
Him speak truth there

It was a good 3 hour Seminar and the topic of adjustment of monitors was well and truly discussed .

He did comment that the Apple display looked good - but kept emphasising that in fact it was no good for work where you wanted to be able to adjust contrast .

Sad , but true and I'm on a MacBook Pro too . Fortunately I , when giving the Tower Unit from my husband's PC to my grandson , kept the Monitor .

I've just been given link as a Christmas present , hopefully to keep my stack of Hybrios in good condition .

It looks as if it does the same job as your Maha charger
