AuraTodd - in whose name is the house insurance ?

All my stuff is covered on my house Insurance because all the camera stuff is under their limit for each item. It could be worth checking what's called "All Risk" on the house insurance - it will cost a little extra and you will have to tell them what items need to be covered this way and furnish receipts etc for the cover to be put in place.

The Insurance people will then tell you exactly what they will be covered for - i.e. travel , in a car [ usually has to be locked in the boot and out of sight ] etc etc

Check specifications of the heaviest stuff you are going to use on it - i.e. body + lens and check that the tripod can take those plus a bit extra

Then match tripod to the weight requirement.

Only you know what your gear weighs

I think my favourite is the Egyptian goose - the combination of title and picture just made me laugh . Brilliantly caught and then titled

I've recently bought a new tripod - suitable for my needs - a MeFoto Backpacker and it came with Arca Swiss plates - one on the tripod and 2 spare !!

When I head to the USA this summer I'll just take one of the Plates with me , since I'll be able to borrow a tripod there

Well well well !

I've just had a visit from an official of SLC - he's not pleased at the damage - and even less pleased that the Contractors didn't tell me at the time .

Result - he's taken some more piccies on his official SLC provided Powershot and repairs will be carried out by the Contractor at their expense

OK - I've to wait for the repair but the Council has accepted liability so I can now clear up. The bin men are going to get a heavy bin tomorrow as I put one bit in it [ it's going to take a few weeks to get rid of the stone ]

Flipping Council

They have put up new Lamp posts - the originals were at the pavement edge , so the new ones are right back by the perimeter of the property. Fine - new lights are a great improvement BUT [ you knew that was coming ]

Yesterday they came to remove the old poles and I now need at least one new Coping stone .

Needless to say I have a reasonable number of photos showing the missing smashed one and exactly from whence it came

What really irks is that they didn't say they had done it - there was so much noise as they were doing it that I never heard the dratted thing fall into my garden ! I discovered it after dark last night.

They will get back to me within two days
