I would be utterly gutted- you must have been furious. Have to say that for a postie to put it in a bin is pretty daft- how does he know the bins were not about to be collected the day he delivered- I think you have a case against Royal mail there. Go get em
For sure I've initiated a case against Royal Mail, so I'm not expecting to be out of pocket as a result of this experience.
At the end of the day, the postman was just trying to be helpful. Just didn't choose the smartest way to go about it.

ah well, you could always return it!
So it seems with my new DA35 also.
On Thursday, our stand-in postman put the parcel containing my new lens in our recycling bin and scrawled on the corner of a piece of mail addressed to my wife 'PKT IN BLU BIN' (which I didn't happen to notice until it was brought to my attention by my wife when she returned Friday evening following a week away).
Bin had been duly emptied by council operatives on Friday morning, complete with new lens.
Oh well.

Anyone want to post something on this or at least provide a link to some clear recommendations on how it can be avoided please?
Prevention's got to be better than cure.
Thanks.

I wonder how long you'd need to stay to catch the light illuminated...

Eventually I went for the Pentax, based on the fact the K5 II offered a number of benefits for motorsport photography that placed it ahead of the D7k. Weight, Image Stabilisation and physical size, to name just three.
Rightly or wrongly, I considered for this subject matter, the only AF points that would really matter would be those positioned centrally anyway.
I bought it as a package with the two kit lenses, although I've noticed Jessops have since upped the price by £100.
If I were to rewind and buy again, based on the revised pricing, I'd most probably go for a body only, possibly the K5 IIs.
I paired the K5 II with a Sigma 150-500 (where as it happens, in-camera stabilisation isn't so crucial as it's typically switched off when using this lens). IMO, this appeared the best solution within my budget for motorsport and similar subject matter I'm interested in.
Sorry I haven't any images to show at this time.
