I'm having a clear out of some of my lenses to make space and raise funds for an FA77 ltd.

For sale is my SMC Macro Takumar 100/4. I've had it for a couple of years, but haven't used much recently as I got an SMC-M 100/4 as part of a kit.

It's in excellent condition, although not quite mint as it has one or two specks of internal dust and cosmetically shows signs of light use. The optics are in good shape, with no scratches, marks or fungus (the dust mentioned previously is normal for a lens of the age and nothing that would affect the pictures). Cosmetically it's in excellent condition, as shown in the pictures.

It is supplied with the original case, front and rear caps. Although I don't normally use them, I'd be happy to include a UV filter as well if you'd like one.

Looking at the going rate on eBay, I think that £95 delivered within the UK is reasonable and I'd be happy to investigate postage options to send it further afield if required. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (with the buyer covering the fees) please.

I'm not sure which quarters you have in mind.
There was a thread about it on the 'other forum' a while ago, in which the Tamron 19AH was compared favourably to the equivalent Vivitar Series 1 lenses: link.

A quick Google shows that it appears the quote I remembered, about it being one of the best zoom lenses in the range ever made, may not have come from an entirely impartial source... http://www.adaptall-2.org/lenses/19AH.html.

I had a copy of the Tokina made Vivitar Series 1 70-210 (v2) that I sold when I got the Tamron. Both were very good, but I preferred the pictures I got with the Tamron.

I'm having a clear out of some of my lenses to make space and raise funds for an FA77 ltd.

For sale is my Super Takumar 35/3.5. I've had it for a couple of years, but haven't used much recently as I have bought a DA 35 limited. As I understand it, it's the earliest version of the Super Takumar (dating from 1962-1964) although it uses the same optical scheme as later versions of the same lens, as well as the K35/3.5

It's in excellent condition, although not quite mint as it has one or two specks of internal dust. It doesn't look as if it has been used much at all.

Looking at the going rate on eBay, I think that £50 delivered within the UK is reasonable and I'd be happy to investigate postage options to send it further afield if required. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (with the buyer covering the fees) please.

I have a Tamron 10-24 that I don't really use much and might be persuaded to sell it. PM me if it's of any interest.

I hear good things about the Pentax 18-250
I've got a Pentax 18-250 and have been really impressed with it as a travel lens on a couple of recent trips.

The main criticism I have is that there is more distortion at the wide end than with the kit lens. Otherwise, it is very sharp in the mid-range, not bad at the extreme wide/tele ends and generally better than a zoom covering that big a range has any right to be!

What I have found, though is that most of the time I use it below 70-80mm, so it might be worth considering whether you actually need the reach, otherwise one of the other options, like a DA 17-70 may worth a look.

Just out of curiosity do you have any portraits etc taken with this lens
Unfortunately, all the portraits I took with this lens are of my kids and I don't post picture of them on line as a general rule (I'm sure they'll put up enough photos of themselves on the internet when they're older, but it will be their choice then; for now I'll try to teach them to be a bit careful about their online footprint!)

I was pleased with the results, though, but found that most of my shots were at f/2 or 2.8 as the shallow DoF at 1.4 makes it really easy to miss focus when hand holding it shooting a subject that also moves!
