I recently got an SMC Pentax-A 135/2.8 and noticed it bore a striking resemblance to my Takumar Bayonet 135/2.8. I had read that they appeared to share an optical scheme here but the Takumar Bayonet lacked SMC coating.

I had a few minutes this afternoon and set out to compare the Takumar Bayonet and SMC-A and then decided that it might be interesting to add a K135/2.5 and zoom to the mix and ended up comparing the following:

Comment Image

1. Sigma 70-200/2.8 EX (first edition, no HSM or OS)
2. Pentax-A 135/2.8
3. Takumar bayonet 135/2.8
4. Pentax K 135/2.5
5. Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135/3.5 (a bit of a wildcard - I've always liked it, but don't use it much since getting the K135/2.5)

The shots below are JPGs, taken straight from the camera, so are a bit rough and ready in places and pretty subjective, but may be of interest.

I've got a couple of spare manual focus primes (in both 35mm and 50mm) - would you prefer manual or auto focus?

Mine is the Tamron 17-50/2.8 or Sigma 24-70/2.8 or 18-250 depending on whether I'm going to be mostly indoors or outdoors or don't know what could happen!

The DA* 16-50 is my first choice if not taking the camera bag. But it does have a number of problems:
it's not wide enough
it's not long enough
it's not macro
it's not fast enough
it's not small enough
it's not light enough
+1, I usually get around at least some of these drawbacks by supplementing it with a couple of strategically chosen primes in a coat pocket.

I know it's made by and is the same as the Cosina one.
I never knew that. Was the 100/3.5 the only Pentax branded lens made by Cosina or were there others?

(apologies for the thread hijack)

Sorry as I would have happily bought yours.
I knew I should have put it up earlier! Thanks anyway.

I've recently come by an A50/1.2 so sadly can't really justify keeping my K50/1.2 as well! It is the later edition of the K50 (1977-82 - see this page for more info)

It's in very good condition, as shown in the pictures, with signs of careful use. The optics are in good shape, with no scratches, marks or fungus (but a few specks of internal dust - nothing unusual for a lens of this age or that would affect the pictures).

It is supplied with the front/rear caps. Although I don't normally use them, I'd be happy to include a UV filter as well if you'd like one.

Looking at the going rate on eBay, I think that £275 delivered within the UK is reasonable and I'd be happy to investigate postage options to send it further afield if required. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (with the buyer covering the fees) please.

I'm having a clear out of some of my lenses to make space and raise funds for my next round of LBA.

For sale is my Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG macro lens. I've had it for a few months, but haven't used it much as I also have its 105mm sibling.

It's in excellent condition, as shown in the pictures, with only one slight 'rub' mark near the focus indicator (shown in the pictures). The optics are in good shape, with no scratches, marks or fungus (but one or two specks of internal dust - nothing unusual or that would affect the pictures).

It is supplied with the original box, hood and front/rear caps. Although I don't normally use them, I'd be happy to include a UV filter as well if you'd like one.

Looking at the going rate on eBay, I think that £180 delivered within the UK is reasonable (the cheapest I could find is currently £250-260 new) and I'd be happy to investigate postage options to send it further afield if required. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (with the buyer covering the fees) please.

(what looks a bit like dust in the last two is actually the reflections of the spot lights on my kitchen ceiling)

I'm having a clear out of some of my lenses to make space and raise funds for my next round of LBA.

For sale is my Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 prime lens. I originally bought it as a result of this thread, as it was identified as one of the most desirable variants, but now have a number of other options in the 28mm range so don't use this one much.

It's in good condition, as shown in the pictures. The optics are in good shape, with no scratches, marks or fungus (but one or two specks of internal dust - normal for a lens of the age and nothing that would affect the pictures). Cosmetically, there are signs of light use, with is some slight paint loss on the edges and the DoF scale, but no major scratches or dents.

It is supplied with front/rear caps. Although I don't normally use them, I'd be happy to include a UV filte
r as well if you'd like one. It is a PK/A mount.

Looking at the going rate on eBay, I think that £30 delivered within the UK is reasonable and I'd be happy to investigate postage options to send it further afield if required. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (with the buyer covering the fees) please.

I'm having a clear out of some of my lenses to make space and raise funds for my next round of LBA.

For sale is my K50/1.4. It's has a couple of issues (described below), so while it is fully functional, it is sold for spares or repair. This may not be the best place to sell it, but it seemed worth seeing if anyone was interested before heading to eBay. It was my first foray into f/1.4 lenses and developed my taste for fast glass - I've had it for about 3 years.

The first issue is a dent in the filter ring, which appears to have been repaired by someone with with big pliers and little patience. I've installed an empty filter ring on it, so it is possible to mount filters, but it is some way short of concours condition! There is also a section on the distance scale where the black background has faded to a greenish colour.

The other issue is an above-average amount of internal dust (also pictured).

Despite the above the IQ is good and it works well; the focus action is smooth and the diaphragm is snappy.

It is supplied with front/rear caps. Although I don't normally use them, I'd be happy to include a UV filter as well if you'd like one.

I'm not entirely sure what to ask price-wise given the condition. I paid £40 for it, so would be open to offers in that ball-park delivered within the UK is reasonable and I'd be happy to investigate postage options to send it further afield if required. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (with the buyer covering the fees) please.

I'm having a clear out of some of my lenses to make space and raise funds for my next round of LBA.

For sale is my Sigma 24-70mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. I've had it for a year or so and found it makes a good, lightweight walkabout lens with a slightly longer range than the kit lens (24mm is just about wide enough for indoor use).

It's in good condition, as shown in the pictures. The optics are in good shape, with no scratches, marks or fungus (but one or two specks of internal dust - normal for a lens of the age and nothing that would affect the pictures). There is some wear to the lettering on the DoF scale but the other lettering is bright and clear.

It is supplied with a UV filter and rear cap.

Looking at the going rate on eBay, I think that £30 delivered within the UK is reasonable and I'd be happy to investigate postage options to send it further afield if required. Payment by bank transfer or PayPal (with the buyer covering the fees) please.
