So you managed to capture it, how nice.

I was going to try since the weather forecast was promising, well the sunstorms anyway...

The 1. oct I was in Tromsø, but crappy weather, so couldn't see anything, sadly.

I heard it was better in Trondheim then, so I came on here yesterday hoping to see something from you Bjørn, but I guess you missed it.

The 2. oct I was in Trondheim, but when the forecast alerted me about it (sadly I have no direct view of the northern hemisphere from the house) I rushed outside, only to be met with a thick fog... I couldn't see further than 50 meters ahead of me

It does look like you really took advantage of the pre-programmed intervals.

Happy to see that you did catch some of it

All this talk about the green hexagon and catch-in-focus got me curious.

I went back to stock focusing screen (to avoid myself cheating), and headed out with a 85mm I was set to use at f2.0 and f2.8.

After using only the green hexagon and catch-in-focus for a few hours I came back home to review the photos taken.
To my astonishment every single image was front focused.
I did a test using 50/1.7 afterwards, and it was the same case there.

Help, how do I correct the green hexagon on my k5?

(The lenses used was 85/2 m42 and m50/1.7, so I can not do individual lens correction.)

The idea was since it was placed in general chat and marked as OT (off-topic), that it would actually turn into something pentax-related.

I never thought the Ot-thread would end up this off-topic of its original Ot-design

Most IR shots from dSLR's you can mimic rather well in post these days.
To get a more realistic effect you have to go a step beyond just adding a filter on the lens.

Now I just wish there was any dSLR's out there with 10 mp or higher that could handle up to 5000 nm, then moding a dSLR would become useful

Through the wormhole.

The idea of a desert island have been done to often, so I figured I might as well try a thought-experiment that goes a little bit further.

What would you bring with you through a wormhole, and why?

The restrictions are that it can not be more than you can carry in one go, and the items should exist as of today.
Something that leads to one backpack, one shoulder bag and maybe two rolling bags.

Compared to an island this is a bit more interesting. You will not know how far back you will go, where you will end up, and if you ever will be able to return. Considering this, it would be an idea to remember that your direct descendants might want to use the items you bring, and preserve the captured data until the day and time where technology again makes it possible to copy them.

Try look up freelance prices in your area.

Where I live the prices fluctuate between £100-250. (Magazines)
Depending on how and where it is getting used, how much post production you have done, and in general your own ability to make a deal.
The price for commercial shots for advertisements might be higher.

Just be sure to make a proper contract.
A contract that expresses what you agree upon.

Like:
Where is the photographers name included.
Where can the image be used, and in what quantity.
Can the image be used freely by the agency?
Can the image be included in a database?

SteveEveritt, I checked out FastStone Viewer (thank you) but it seems it's a Windows only program. Can anyone suggest a similar program for Macs?
Because LR and AP are so slow, FastStone Viewer is also my go-to on the PC to go through the initial stage of picking keepers.

On the Mac I usually resort to Lyn or Photo Mechanic to do the same job.
PM also have some nice features, but I seldom use them. I guess I have to learn it one day, since I already have the software.

Sounds like typical malware behaviour.

Never use third-party software to update.
If you want to update a driver, you go to the source and check if you need to. It is the safest thing.

Win8 I wouldn't really bother with, Win7 maybe, but I need XP because of custom made hardware support only made for XP.

Win XP Pro 64bit is still an excellent OS for the most part. When using a pc with Win7 I actually lust for my own 64bit xp version, because it is so much faster.
If you just have a good firewall, then there is nothing wrong with using an older OS.

Just wondering, should it not be the Rule of 400 on our crop sensors?
It should be for Pentax, but it is better to just remember the general rule of 600 and just add in the crop factor each time.

You would mess up if you by chance some time use a different brand crop body, 12x10 format, 6x7 format or 135mm format if you remember it as the rule of 400.
