Still can't see a kingfisher, but it's none the worse for that.

I like the contrast between the wonderfully vibrant colours that dominate and the drab, everyday street furniture at the bottom. To make it more of a Wennington signature shot, though, it probably needs a kingfisher on the lamp...

I like #2 as it is, but would be interested to see the modified version as proposed by Nigel.
I often leave the M40 at junction 5 to observe the red kites that gather nearby. They drift quite low and I've managed a few OK shots, but nothing even remotely as detailed as these...

You went and put the results in and now I know them before I watch it on the box...

Are you finding [that 300] offers much over the 100-300?
Henceforth I'll probably use the 300 in conjunction with the Sigma 50-150, and the 100-300 with something a bit wider (probably the DA 17-70). Chances are that I'll still have the wrong body/lens to hand whenever something spectacular occurs.
As for the shadows, I haven't done much PP: I generally crop in PS Elements, hit 'autofix', reverse the process if I don't like it and then stick the result in a folder. I wish I could claim greater levels of sophistication, but I can't...

In the meantime, here's some motorbike stuff...

1 - Brow beaten (K-5 IIs, Sigma 100-300mm f4)

2 - Rush (K-5, Sigma 50-150mm f2.8, 1/100)

3 - "If I smile, perhaps the drizzle will go away..." (K-5 IIs, DA 300mm f4)

4 - Or perhaps not. Shane Byrne leads the first of the weekend's three BSB races. He eventually tumbled, but two victories on Sunday wrapped up the title - a task made slightly easier by rival Ryuichi Kiyonari's withdrawal in the wake of a collarbone-fracturing fall on Saturday morning (K-5 IIs, DA 300mm f4)

5 - Let us spray (K-5 IIs, Sigma 100-300mm f4)

6 - "Look, one of you has to volunteer to be the passenger..." (K-5, Sigma 50-150mm)

7 - Reasons not to be a passenger, numbers one and two (K-5 IIs, DA 300mm f4)

8 - Down, down, deeper and down (K-5 IIs, DA 300mm f4)

9 - Flying on the ground (K-5 IIs, DA 300mm f4)

10 - Forest gumption (K-5 IIs, DA 300mm f4)
